[Less Than Perfect]

I'm reading Transhumance but it hasn't grabbed me yet.

I haven't read the other one but I'll have to give it a read. I've been struggling without any fanfic for so many days and it's upsetting. Thankfully it looks like mveloc has a new fic do I'll have something to read tonight.

Still so frustrated that David doesn't know yet. I was so sure he'd overhear or catch them at it at the party! I feel really bad for Delphine again as well, Cosima really needs to get her arse and brain in gear.

I agree with all of this. Also David either really loves Cosima or this arrangement to put up with all this. Shes intentionally trying to piss him off, and he just goes with it. He doesn't acknowledge her telling him she doesn't want to be married to him anymore. He acts like shes child having a temper tantrum and everything will go back to "normal" once she settles down.
Then there is Delphine getting her first taste of the nastiness homophobes will spew her way when they know she's with a woman. Shes goes from that to being ****ed in a bathroom by a drunk/high Cosima who then disappears on her. Ugh Delphine.

I was so anxious the whole time they were in the bathroom. I just kept worrying that David would find them and be really into Cosima and Delphine together. David getting pleasure out of them would be the worst.

I read this last night and whilst I will probably keep reading there are aspects about it that I just can't see happening. For one I can't see Delphine giving up on Cosima that easily at all. Cosima survives and they're playing happy families with a daughter and it gets hard so one day Cosima decides to move across the world and Delphine just lets her? Not buying it. Especially since this story is post S2 and not S3. Delphine would've fought for Cosima to stay. Or at least would've tried to put them back together again. Instead she's got a boyfriend who apparently around enough to leave his jacket around and do some handiwork. All the while Delphine still keeps her wedding ring on her. Yeah no, I don't see that happening. I also don't think Delphine would've become such a workaholic that she would've let their relationship wither down so drastically. Delphine is ambitious but she always put Cosima and her well being before her own.

I'll probably still continue reading but I think if the story was more angst filled I would have an easier time believing the situation they're currently in.

Pure Radiance - This looks like it'll be fun. I'm not always a huge fan of vampire AUs after the Twilight movies but

Well, I absolutely can't do vampire fics. I just...can't. So, Pure Radiance is a no go for me unless there comes a point where I'm left with no other material from decent writers.

As for Holocene:

Its weird, I don't buy it for Cophine, but the writing is strong enough (aside from the scenario being off for Cosima and Delphine) to keep me lightly interested. Basically, I'm reading it as a story that has characters that look like them but aren't them.

This story has been brave in that it's taken the very long route and it's covered some very unpleasant ground realistically. For me, this is the very unromantic, truer version of Cophine (although, there are still things I don't buy, just like in most AUs). This is the version where Delphine sobs needily on the phone and Cosima is a jerk to everyone 90 percent of the time. Fairytale? Hell no. How people act in the real world? Yep, sometimes.

That said, boy is Cosima a piece of work most of the time. I know everyone dislikes David, but her behvavior toward him isn't exactly stellar. It's complex and coming from interesting and realistic places (people do act like that), but boy does she stretch any and all goodwill shown her by him or Delphine. She treats them both like crap because she can't find her ovaries and do what she needs to do. He won't talk about separating? Grow up and tell him you want a divorce and why. If he doesn't believe you after that, he'll finally know you're serious when he gets served. Not that I'm unfeeling toward him either. I kind of hate stories where one character is supposed to be winning another character away from a spouse. Been there. Unpleasant endings for all, generally. Unless someone is truly horrible, those scenarios make me feel a little dirty. So, when Delphine was like, "Oh, he's a human being," well...yeah, Delphine.

Anyway. Interesting tale, but a fine romance it hasn't been.

If it had been written by an author I hadn't read previous work from then I probably wouldn't have touched it unless someone recommended it to me.

Gah. David is just so gross. I know he's just doing what him and Cosima have always done...but ugh. Now I wish he had caught them on the phone so Delphine wouldn't have had to go through the humiliation of him watching. The only good thing that can come of that is him seeing for himself that Cosima wants Delphine and only Delphine. That wasn't a show for him, that was Cosima being with someone shes in love with and vice versa.

I really, really wish David hadn't seen them. I was filled with so much dread that whole chapter that he was going to see them and he did. I feel so sorry for Delphine but I'm glad that David realised that there was a difference between Delphine and everyone else that Cosima had slept with.

I don't know what Cosima is thinking with the counselling and being unsure whether to hold his hand. The answer is simple Cosima, don't do it. She really should just move into Delphine's place while she's in Peru. That way she's away from David and she's technically still living alone.
