Disneyโ€™s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (1949).

The Disney version is a pretty close adaptation the original short story.

It's hilarious to me how the characters are in the original work vs. the adaptations over recent years. Ichabod's about as far from a hero as you can get - only after Katrina for her daddy's farm first, her looks second. And Katrina only flirts with Ichabod to make Brom [the Abraham character] jealous and have to work for it, instead of having it easy in winning her - it comes across like she always planned to choose Brom.

I like how the original leaves it unanswered, but it implies just enough that Headless may have been Brom in disguise - no doubt the inspiration to make Abraham really Headless in the show.

I never saw the Disney verson, just gifs like those bellow. The only version i actually know/saw was with Depp.

Wow, that version sounds interesting . Especially Katrinaยดs personality. I may have to take a look and search for other versions.

The original short story is SO different than the Depp version.

Over the years and the various adaptations since the Depp film, Ichabod has been turned into a hero in a story that otherwise didn't really have ANY hero. Some adaptations are creative with it, others are just very basic and cliche.

There isn't much of any indication in the original story that Katrina loved Ichabod. It's heavily implied that she outright rejects him at the end of it, before the "Headless Horseman" runs him out of town.

You should check out the original story - seeing the differences is fun.

I don't recall ever watching it as a kid, which is kinda weird. I've always been into ghost stories and things like that.

I like the old classic cartoon of Sleepy Hollow -- I think it's an hour long and it begins with Ichabod coming to town -- the tv networks when they aired it...only showed 21 minutes of it.

That sounds like the Disney cartoon to me. It only is about 20 minutes long.

I don't know of any other animated versions.

They stopped showing it on TV years ago for some reason. I have the DVD
