from the posts/reviews here, I expected the movie to be a lot more fluffy or well, just fluffy without any serious undertones in it it was a cute movie, no doubt but not as fluffy/cute as I thought

You're right, there's a lot of serious issues underlying the comedy. That's what gives the movie its heft and resonance. I love that about this film and really want to see it on Broadway sometime!

So I showed this to my parents today because I'm seeing it next month in NYC and I wanted them to know the story. After it, I was like "yeah I initially bought it just because of Nathan Fillion and it was so weird to not like a character he plays and..." (doctors being involved with patients is just one of those things that always creeps me out) and my mom goes "wait, Nathan Fillion was in that? Who was he?" And I just sort of stared at her. Like with how long I've loved Firefly - she's seen episodes of Firefly - she had absolutely no idea what he looked like.

Oh wow, Nicole, I'm so jealous! Please tell us how it is on Broadway! Yes, that SL is a bit creepy and the ONLY thing making it bearable was Nathan in that role.

A former co-worker of mine might be able to get discounted tickets when the tour comes to Louisville since she has season passes to that theater, so I miiiiight be seeing it again end of June.
