“In September 2012, we received an email about a Project Which Could Not Be Named. It said – would we like to pitch for the job of creating a title sequence and on-screen doodles for a forthcoming TV programme?
Us: Erm, can you tell us a bit more?
Tiger Aspect: It’s called My Mad Fat Diary and here’s episode one for you to watch.
Us (about 40 mins later): Yes yes yes, we’d love to pitch, and thank you for asking us.
A few months and several drawings of t!ts, bums & will!es later, we’re delighted to share the work we’ve done for the show. Aimed at an E4 audience, we were not only able, but encouraged, to let rip with adolescent scribbles that were simultaneously childish and dark to reflect the conflicted personality of Rae Earl, the show’s protagonist – episode one opens with Rae emerging from a stint in a psychiatric unit, but we quickly see that she’s still just an angsty teenager who worries about the usual things and has a fierce sense of humour. We liked Rae a lot.”
Mr & Mrs created a 30s title sequence as well as all the on-screen doodles that represent Rae’s diary and thoughts.
