^ But I also think that Joan has her own issues, it's not only Sherlock. I think she's such a great friend and support to others because she genuinely cares, but also because she can forget or at least not face her own demons.

joan throws all of her energy into "Fixing" people, mainly Sherlock, because she can;t face the past. She can't face what happened when she was a doctor.
