Community Thoughts

First, I do apologize if this is an inappropriate thread or if I missed an existing similar one. I just thought I'd open one to discuss the subject of Elementary being in hot water apparently. I read, in TV Guide I believe, that the show is "on the bubble"... at risk for cancellation. This is ridiculous. Anyway, allow me to vent.

This always, always, happens to CBS shows that move from weeknights to Sundays. There's a long history of shows cancelled from their Sunday time slots. It goes back, if I recall, to one of my old favorites... CSI: Miami. Then, as I recall was a great, quirky, very original show called Life. It moved to Sunday and then got cancelled. Same with Simon Baker's the Mentalist. Given that pattern, I fear for our show's survival.

I have a theory about this. Before the actual dramas begin Sunday night, there's Monday night football and 60 minutes and other stuff. That always...ALWAYS means the shows following start late... sometimes very late. So late, in fact, that I can't even DVR it because the max time you can start recording early and end late is 15 minutes. Sometimes it's like 30 minutes late. I'm forced to sit through on demand which I hate.

Anyway, thanks for listening to me rail If anyone has any suggestions, please share.

Hey thanks for your post !

Maybe I can move it in the NEWS THREAD, I'll discuss with my co-mod but until then I have no problem with keeping it here.

I'm very surprised that it is not doing good enough in the US, I live in France and the show is so popular it airs on TWO different channels ;

There are also plenty of blogs /tumblr supporting the show so really I don't understand, maybe it's the demographic ?

I have said this already but the move to Sunday's has always seemed like a death slot to me so it has me worried also Also on SpoilerTV they have like a cancellation predictor table which has Elementary down to be cancelled. While they do state it is not 100% accurate they do get a lot right which worries me further. All we can do is keep our fingers crossed. If not I only hope they are given fair warning so they can end it properly.

I do think it could go either way but it wouldn't surprise me if they cancelled it, I guess it depends on if they have a new promising show that they need the space for. The ratings aren't great but they aren't too bad and considering it is a CBS owned show with a syndication deal and already is in the 'graveyard slot' there is a possibility they could keep it around for a final season? Maybe i am just being optimistic!

I have heard this as a complaint, a lot! I am not in the US but i can understand why that would make the ratings drop.

Thanks for the link ALi, what does the Index numbers mean If you're higher does it mean you have more chance of getting cancelled ?

^ Yes that's right. Higher the number the more likely it is to he cancelled. I hope we are just fearing the worse! I just hate when shows don't get time to end it the right way hopefully that won't happen to Elementary.

Yeah you would hope. Some shows haven't been so lucky. Guess we will have an answer soon anyway.

You can see the ratings here, I'd say it's doing pretty good despite being in the death spot :

Elementary TV show on CBS: ratings (cancel or season 6?)
