My thoughts.

Agree with Several Miles that Jeremy Irons would be an absolutely perfect choice to play Sherlock's dad. Perfect

While I agree that it's difficult to tell whether Sherlock relapsed or not from that quick shot at the end, I'm wondering why his father would be coming back if he hadn't. Am I alone in wondering that?

All in all, the entire episode was fabulous.

I'm actually someone who, as a die hard old Sherlock Holmes movie buff, was beyond reluctant to even give this series a shot. I wound up watching an episode early in Season 2 because there was nothing else on. Then I was curious and watched another episode. I was hooked. I had to go back and play catch up watching Series 1 marathons. Johnnie Lee Miller is beyond amazing. Lucy Leu is wonderful and I love Aidan Quinn (always have), and John Michael Hill.

I hope everyone has a good day
Welcome Toni

I would love it too, Jeremy Irons would be so perfect in that role. He seems cold and is so charming.

The bold is exactly why, though I still hope he didn't relapse I think he did

I'm glad you let yourself charmed by this show and its great casting.

I agree. I think he did relapse. While painful to watch, I think there will be some incredible acting and episodes as he gets back on the road to recovery. and you know he will.

Yup, I'm hooked. I'd say "I can't wait for the next season", but there's the summer to think about.

About casting his father, It occurs to me that Donald Sutherland would be great too. He's got the kind of presence one imagines Sherlock & Mycroft's father to have. Of course, physically they couldn't be less alike. Johnny Lee being a slight man. But then look at Sutherland's real son, Keifer.

Donald Sutherland could've been good, but I am sure the guy they chose will be great

A very interesting review, with a lot of point we could discuss:

Elementary: “A Controlled Descent”
The trump card has been played.

Clyde Watch: Look, I’m not going to sugarcoat this—it’s upsetting that Clyde doesn’t have a role to play in this finale. I’m aware that there really wasn’t a place for him given how much time Sherlock spends away from the Brownstone. I’m also aware that the logistics of working with a turtle are probably pretty difficult. But at final count, the “No Clyde” tag wins out 17 to 7 over the “Clyde” tag this season, which means that Clyde didn’t even appear in a third of the episodes. I’m hopeful that making this quantifiable will open some eyes in the production, but more than anything else I hope it documents my slow descent into madness. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
We're not alone

Yeah, who even is this Sherlock person? I watch it for Clyde!

what they should do is just film a scene or two of Clyde in his tank/container and then just put it in every episode. They can just show the same scene over and over because Clyde doesn't do much and no one would notice

Perhaps Clyde will play a pivotal role in Sherlock getting back on the straight and narrow. After all, Clyde needs him.
