*Rewatch* While You Were Sleeping (1.02) - Episode Discussion
While You Were Sleeping (1.02) - Episode Discussion
“While You Were Sleeping” – Sherlock is called in to consult a burglary that resulted in the death of the homeowner. True to form, Holmes quickly realizes that the burglary was an unrelated crime of opportunity that happened after the murder--they should be chasing a killer, not a robber. Unfortunately, Sherlocks favored suspect has an airtight alibi: shes confined to a hospital bed, trapped in a coma after a suicide attempt. When another murder occurs with the same MO, Sherlock realizes that hes running out of time to find a connection and solve the case, on ELEMENTARY, Thursday, Oct. 4 2012 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT), on the CBS Television Network.[X] REGULAR CAST: Jonny Lee Miller (Sherlock Holmes) Lucy Liu (Joan Watson) Aidan Quinn (Captain Tommy Gregson) Marcus Bell (Jon Michael Hill) GUEST CAST: Jennifer Ferrin (Rebecca Ellison) Bill Heck (Ty Morstan) Casey Siemaszko (Michael McGee) Rosa Arredondo (Elaine) Chris Bresky (Recovering Addict) Amy Landon (Yvette Ellison) Rey Lucas (Martin) Ken Marks (Moderator) Asa Somers (Doctor) Paul Michael Valley (Burly Man) WRITTEN BY: Robert Doherty DIRECTED BY: John David Coles GENRE: DRAMA x __________________

This was a cool case. That coma sister was coldblooded, geez.
I've rewatched season 1 this past week. it's been great revisiting their relationship at the beginning, when Sherlock appeared to be trying to drive her off. lol |

It's very interesting to revisit JoanLock early relationship.
Like always a very unusual case but always showing the darkest side of human beings: inducing a coma to kill your half-siblings and *gasp* even you're only sibling for inheritance; and another episode with great interactions between the cast. There are also a lot of tiny moments that shows Watson’s interest in her future career, like how she starts walking, hears the captain's call and turns back. Also the progression between her not wanting to see/touch dead bodies on crime scenes to actively taking part in the investigation is nice. Since it was the episode where Det Bell was introduced, it was obvious he and Sherlock would be butting head, I loved the handshake in the end meaning the beginning of a great collaboration. I’m not a specialist in autism obviously but Sherlocks behavior and body language seems more to channel autism in S1 and JLM does it very well. It was a big step for Sherlock, as he attended his first group meeting and was not too happy about it. Seeing him taking it out on Watson, messing with her personal life and throwing a few tantrums, even setting is violin on fire to make himself heard. But surprisingly, he was also capable of being nice giving the rehab center address to the PI. The end angsty Sherlock is the best kind. __________________

To see him go from this to someone who "likes Watson's mother" and intervenes in that relationship is quite remarkable. |

To go back from his S3 behavior to this, I agree, he is really an annoying person; no wonder no one wants to be around him.
