The show has landed a star, the mercurial Rebecca Duvall (guest star Uma Thurman), but Eileen (Anjelica Huston) is thrown into a panic when Rebecca gets stuck in Cuba. Derek (Jack Davenport) puts Karen (Katharine McPhee) in as understudy, but she must learn to perform under extreme pressure as he threatens to break her will. Tom and Julia (Christian Borle and Debra Messing) celebrate their anniversary with a ritual – and face some hard truths about what show business can do to relationships.

Megan Hilty, Raza Jaffrey and Jaime Cepero also star. Uma Thurman guest stars.

Karen is the understudy her reaction to this was sooo adorable, she was so happy I wanted to hug her Derek at first was 'Derek', but she didn't make diva scenes like someone else we know The first vision! She's already Marilyn for him, even if he doesn't admit it yet.
She cares very much about this project, it's so clear even if she doesn't act like a diva towards everyone else…I wonder how people could say, back then, that she didn't want it like Ivy. Just because you're not mean and stay at your place it doesn't mean you don't care about it.

This episode has such great musical moments: DSYUIFT is brilliant! NGATH is

Dev's storyline is quite boring, it's so separated from the rest…I know that he's related to Karen only, but I don't get how people could be interested in him and his storyline, it was like the lawyer character and the relationship with Tom Maybe this was supposed to create more drama for Karen outside the rehearsal (and it did), but I wonder if a relationship with a theatre man would have been better. It would have added more drama with Derek too, with both being in the same business. And since they liked to parallel Marilyn and the actress who played her maybe the guy could have played Miller or another Marilyn man and added drama with a parallel (sort of). But it's just an idea, now

Cartwills scenes and what about Derek's apology? "That's the apology?" "Don't expect miracles"

Eileen and Nick first kiss! Randy Cobra is creepy So I guess since Cobra was okay, the problem for Bombshell will be Nick only, right? In S2 I mean.

Yup! And maybe help me with this rewatch, I'm alone at commenting and it's getting awkward/ridiculous

I remember the day when the stills of this episode were out and there was also one of Ivy dressed as Marilyn (see the gif). Everyone was like WHAT??? IS SHE MARILYN AGAIN??? And then...it was only a dream sequence

Thanks! You find the previous threads in the General one. We started this rewatch two months ago.

That red dress looks stunning on her, but making an episode still of that...it confused people She'll play Marilyn again only a season later, after all.
