I don't think they will end S3 on a cliffhanger. If they stick to the plan of making it the final one anyways..

I just can't see how the show could continue if Joe was dead.
They did that on The Mentalist. "Red John" was killed and now the show has one last season with a 13 episode arc...the main nemesis being killed off didn't work. |

I guess Joe will have a different role next season. He won't be the main bad guy anymore.

Plus there was a plan to possibly have him killed of at the end of S2. So I'd be interested to see what their plan would have been in that case..
