i'm also a part-time writer, i wrote short stories and essays in both high school and community college. not much lately, sadly. magazine work is pretty much drying up, everything is going online, and those articles are 'written' by bots and plagiarists. i used to do reviews and article proofread/cleanup for the now sadly defunct Premiere movie magazine.

i was a big theater and film history nut in high school, so that helped with my essays, but sadly most of my reviews were very subtlety changed or slightly reworded to reflect the political bias of Premiere magazine. i was always more neutral and moderate towards political themes or messages of films, but the magazine editors would alter some of my words to reflect the left/center leanings of the current editorial staff.

i still proofread articles and unfinished manuscripts for a third-party clearinghouse that handles transitional materials from publications to digital mediums, but sadly it's just subcontract work, and i get no name credit like the old days. it's really getting to be tedious, since the wage scales are constantly changing, ugh. it's sad that one day, everything will be online and digitized, and books, magazines, and printed publications will go the way of the dinosaurs. *sighs*

i will read my THG trilogy books til the end of time. thanks always, Suzanne Collins!

That all sounds a really interesting job/side job! It must be fascinating to work with those older type items. That's too bad about it not being as active as before. And that's cool about you being a part-time writer as well. It seems like it would be a stimulating kind of job, hope it is despite it being hard to rely on to continue into the future.

That is definitely a fact. I've read a LOT of books over the years, this series is definitely on the top of my list of favourites.

THG trilogy is definitely in my top picks, as well. i have both hardcover versions and paperback copies for roadtrips. i'm on my second set of paperbacks, because the first set got a lot of use and abuse in suitcases and travel carry-ons, even got cranberry juice on them during a rough camping trip several years back!

That shows passion for those books I don't buy much from my "fandoms" but those books (and the DVD's) were a no-brainer.

i still have my 2014 Catching Fire calendar on the wall! i just taped some date pages to the December page, for each year since 2014. it has September 2018 on it right now, because my October has been a mess with all these storms and idiocy at work because of messed up schedules caused by bad weather. ugh.

Oh wow that sounds really fun to have! I remember getting a poster from a magazine and hanging it up for a while.

i have the THG hardcovers for my big bookshelves in the den/office/mancave, but i have all the regular reading softcovers on my nightstand shelves and over the headboard. i do a lot of reading in bed lol.
