Television - Veronica Mars

(If there's already a thread, sorry. I searched). Anyone watch it last night?

I liked it. Veronica is very quirky, bold, and frank (dude, Chloe Sullivan anyone?) I also like her friendship with Wallace and the weird alliance she has with the motorcycle gang.

The Kane/Lily's death/Veronica's mom storyline is very intriguing and I wanna find out more. But, the whole chick from Mean Girls head smashed in was a bit disturbing.

Anyway, I'm not holding out for this to last since the ratings sucked and its UPN anyways (you know, where are good shows get cancelled), but its fun to watch.

It was okay. I didn't love it. I thought way too much happened for the first episode, for one thing. I guess I just didn't find it too intriguing.

If Veronica & her dad are so poor...where do all her clothes come from!?

I love how on TV, no matter how poor someone is, they always have a new outfit for every day of the year.

Oh, and one more nitpick - in a town filled with the very rich and the somewhat poor, the kids wouldn't be going to school together. The rich kids would be at private school.

I am surprised that there is not a Veronica Mars thread here. I would think that many would love to discuss it. I liked the pilot myself and hope that they don't cancel it just as its getting good like they do with so many good shows.

I don't think she's saying she's poor in the literal sense, just in comparison to the majority of kids that go to that school where the middle class is considered "poor".

I liked the premiere overall. If I had to make one complaint its that they're trying to make it too "edgy". It just seems ackward at times (like the whole "big hog" scene).

The ratings weren't that great for the premiere so it'll probably get canned like every other show I like.

It's moving to a different day next week though so hopefully it'll do better in the ratings so it can last.

yeah i saw it on wednesday, the show is not bad, it refresh from other show out on TV. will tune on in Tuesday.

I just caught the re-airing of the Pilot tonight...

And I generally like the show.

The big thing, however, that it has going against it is that everyone is going to be saying the concept and character are a clone of Allison Mack's role of Chloe Sullivan from Smallville.

Regardless of what you think about Smallville, Veronica is basically a Chloe spin-off with another actress.

This is bad because fans are "too smart" for cheap gimmicks like this and that ultimately may cost the show ratings/viewers in the end.

As unrealistic as this sounds... The best thing to do would be to offer up the part to Allison Mack (considering her SV time has been cut in half this season) and if she accepted just gradually transition her over to the role and/or just retool the show because it is obvious that right now, Veronica is too "young" be played by Mack and Mack has a built in fanbase from SV.

As for the show itself...

It's definitely trying to be hip and cutting edge -- what show isn't these days? -- But some of the stuff just comes off as crass and not really "shocking" anymore, and I wish TV Producers would realize if you just give people good STORIES -- Which I think VM has -- You don't need to rely on cliched sexual innuendos and other overused elements to get viewers.

I was surprised to find that I enjoyed it. When it first started it seemed like it was going to be awful. Veronica seemed to perfect to me, but the show seemed to pick up a bit. If anything I'll watch it because I want to know what happened with her mother and her friend. I just hope it stays on long enough.

I caught the rerun tonight and I really like it. Although so much happened in the first episode, it was a pretty good pilot/premiere. One of the few good ones this fall season. The only bad thing for the show, is that it's up against One Tree Hill, which really hurts their younger viewers who tune in to OTH. Hopefully ratings will be good so they can keep it on air.

I like the show, and I hope UPN pcks up a whole season. I got the whole "Chloe Sullivan" / Smallville thing too, and the Wallace on a pole(w/snitch on his chest) a la Clark as the Scarecrow w/ S.

I think the Pilot will repeat on Sat. 9/25 @ 9 and epsode 2 will reair on 9/29 @ 12 am. At least according to my area's tv listings.

I also caught the rerun..I really liked it. I found it a bit choppy, but I can't complain about the plot in general. I need a new "cult show." I haven't really had one since Dark Angel.

I get the Chloe comparison, but I think Veronica has more spunk. We'll see...but I like it.

Hey, at least its on UPN, not Fox...

I'll be watching this show this season.

i just saw this show and really like it. i like Veronicas character cus she has balls and it doesnt feel fake. (ok so the whole gang thing and them not killing her and stuffing her in a trunk is a bit lame, but there r probably nice gang leaders out there.)

to be honest the whole Chloe comperasion is off, at least to me. i think why people see it as a Chloe twin cus of her looks. they both have the same hair cut.

the show is funny and it was witty dialog. i was laughing so hard when they "randomly" searched her locker and all she had it it was the principles pic.

its also heartfelt with the whole rape, mom and dead friend thing.

and i like the useage of the flashbacks.

no its not the best show on tv but its better then most of the crap that is on right now.

i hope the show doesnt gets canceled so soon cus of the poor ratings and that UPN gives it a fair chance. but even if it does i have a feelin that the acctress palying Veronica will become a star. i dunno its just a feelin. cus she just shines throughtout the whole episode.

I watched the first episode the other day and I really liked it.

I thought the character Veronica was great - and I don't get the Chloe from Smallville but that's because I don't watch that show

- and they've found a great actress to play her. The one bad thing in the show, would be the voice-overs, there ok when done right but to use them over and over it get's a bit annoying.

I'll be watching this week.

I caught a rerun too. I liked it. There were parts of it that made me think "yeah right", but overall I thought it was good. I'll keep watching it. I'm interested in seeing how Veronica's mother fits into the Kane/Lily story.

I watched the reruns also. It ran three times on our UPN network. I loved it! We need more female characters with darkness and sarcasm to them. I can't wait until tonight's episode.
