I liked The White Queen too. I was a bit iffy with it at first but by the 3rd/4th ep, I was on-board and enjoyed it very much. I hope to enjoy this one as well.
There have been comparisons to The Tudors though (I haven't seen that so I can't comment). __________________

I watched the first episode yesterday. I like it. It's already giving me a "The White Queen" vibe which makes sense as it probably has the same writer?
I'm restraining myself for having to Google events as I didn't read the book. King Henry is a bit of an ass so it's hard to imagine how Elizabeth fell for him although towards the end, that scene with Cecily, he said my favorite line of the entire episode. __________________

I'm a bit iffy with Jacob's acting, the actor who plays King Henry, but that's only the first ep so I hope to see some more improvement with him.
Also I'm reading that they changed up the rape scene in the first ep which is good. Cause honestly, rape SLs aren't really easy to watch and while they were part of the book, they can change it up like what they did on the show. __________________

2nd episode was rather slow for me but I can see now why Elizabeth will fall for Henry eventually. Jodie is excellent as Elizabeth and I'm really impressed with her peformance here. Along with the wonderful Michelle Fairley, of course.

I watched this show yesterday morning! I loved it! James is a bit iffy for me also, I'm not too sure i can get to grips with him, but the plot so far has been somewhat accurate and I enjoy that. Of course some things have changed such as hiding richard, but they've got to add drama some how.
I started a campaign, if any fans are interested I figured it could be a board where all of Phillipa's work could be discussed too, especially white queen http://www.fanforum.com/f50/white-pr.../#post89951949 Last edited by sourburst; 04-25-2017 at 03:00 AM |

Yeah, some drama is necessary. But aside from the acting of Jacob, which is only a minor thing for me now, the show is great. I'm loving Elizabeth's strong-willed personality. She's a lot like her mother.

I love that they didn't choose good looking actors too. It's about time they did something like this.

Both Jacob & Jodie are good looking to me. But I still need to warm up to Jacob's acting.
I'm already despising Margaret these past 2 eps but since Michelle is playing her, she's actually one of my favorites now. __________________

I hated the character in The White Queen, so I am going to assume I'll hate her this series too. I can't wait for Elizabeth and Henry to fall in love.
I'm wondering where they're going to end this series. I haven't caught up with Phillipa's books, does it end when Elizabeth dies in child birth? I'd love for this series to go out with a bang and I'd like them to end it in roughly the same place as the books. |

Was this supposed to be a mini-series too just like The White Queen or they can choose to renew it if they want to? I've read that Elizabeth has a very short and tragic life.
