I agree. We do deserve a good musical guest. *SIGH*

I really hope both parties can at least come back to the table and try to work it out soon.

Thanks Genki!

For international sale I think you'll find they pay the studios then?

I do know here in Australia reading at least on show had been bought for 22 eps which it may never be completed before season end now. I'd say there would be clauses in the contract in the even of strike or other reason for no completed season (Like being axed early). It will be interesting if others know more.

How much money do you think the tv industry is losing every day in this strike?

I guess these writers and studio heads don't realize that this strike is going to cost a lot of people their jobs. People who work behind the scenes on shows are going to be out of jobs if this strike continues to go on. I wish the media would report on that. I'm glad that Ellen has enough sense to go on with her show so that she will not disappoint her fans and that her co-workers won't be laid off.

It's hard to say how much they are loosing, I'm thinking not much yet as most prime-time shows are still on. But that will change if this drags on in to next year.

The entertainment industry is now a $30 billion industry in LA alone, meaning each week the state could be losing as much as the 22 week strike cost in total 20 years ago. That's 500 million a week!

I bet the networks or studios will not release numbers any time soon but their share holders are not gonna be happy!

I heard they already lost ALOT just being out one week. I can only imagine how much it'll cost if this strike goes on for a long time.

UPDATE:

Daytime Soap Writers Opt To Go Fi-Core

LINK

This was almost a given to be honest.

This is why I went to the trouble to educate you guys on what Fi-Core is because I knew it would pop up sooner rather than later.

You have to look past yourself and see what is at stake. No body wanted this strike... Well, no one except Nick Counter, and the greedy corporate CEOs.

Contrary to what you might believe, or are being told, everyone knew what was at stake when they voted to strike. These are grown adults with more experience than some of you have been alive (no offense). Some of them have been through previous strikes. So, whether or not the media reports on this doesn't matter in the long run. What they need to report on... And have been... Is the real reason for this strike. GREED.

This is taken from TV Week...

Quote:
"TV Week:" Moreover, the AMPTP argument that the strike hurts below-the-line workers could effectively paint writers as unduly selfish for going on strike, especially right before the holidays—if it weren’t being undermined when Mr. Chernin says the strike is “probably a positive.” And: “We save more money in term deals and, you know, story costs and probably the lack of making pilots than we lose in potential advertising.”

Makes it tougher to argue writers are being greedy when you’re pointing out the bottom-line benefit of hundreds of employees losing their jobs."
So, yes, the studios are very aware of how this affects the behind the scenes people, and they don't care. I've seen quite a few references to how the studios view this as a positive because it allows them to clean house and cut ties in areas that weren't making as much money.

And here'sanother video that I don't think I've seen posted yet that calls out the networks on their claim that they aren't sure if they can make money off the internet yet.
