The Hour (2011-2012)

So damn you BBC, I'll forever be bitter about this after 5 years. How can you end a show where the main character is on the brink of death? That was evil and cruel and another season for the fallout would have been good.

I'm gonna go with an ancient one - Dark Angel (2000-2002 one, with Jessica Alba). It was such a cute little show, it deserved more than 2 seasons, even though the first was imo much stronger than the second one (according to tv tropes, 9/11 might have had something to do with the shift in themes). I wonder if the show would be better received now when dystopias are big hit. Either way, it's definitely one of my favorite dystopias and shows in general. It had likable, vibrant characters, was big on social justice and had an optimistic spirit, despite the dystopian setting.

This is not because it didn't run long enough, we got 5 seasons.
But this has everything to do with the way it ended.
It is my understanding that they had already written season 5
and they were already in the process of shooting the episodes.
And then halfway through shooting, they got the news that the
show was cancelled. And that the number of episodes was trimmed
down. But the episodes already shot obviously still had to be used.
So in the last short season we got a tonne of episodes that had
nothing to do with the core characters (which would've been fine
if they had had more time to work out those stories).
This show ended on such a disappointing note for me.
I really think that if it hadn't been cancelled, they could've had
another great season.

OMG, Lindsay, The Hour ending was so heartbreaking. I will be forever bitter too.

This was one of my two choices for Day One so now since you went with this one, I can go for my other choice! This was a good choice.

Paula - sorry about SaB. I didn't watch the show but it really sucks that the episodes were trimmed down and that you didn't like how it ended. I hate it when that happens.

I'm glad you feel the same way. I still have a sour taste on my mouth about that ending.

Everwood.

Despite the show having a good ending I still miss the show, I think it was a show with potential and it could have had some good seasons after the 4th one!
The characters were beautifully written as were the stories. All 4 seasons were good IMO

I've never watched Everwood, though I've heard good things about it
The only other show I know of those is Reign

I thought about choosing Cult because that did the same thing as The Hour; it ended with the main character on the brink of death. But I didn't really love that show to begin with

Life Unexpected
I could come up with so many shows that shouldn't have been cancelled, but LUX only had 26 episodes and it had SO much potential. I loved everything about this show, the plot, the characters, the music.. and I love that the cast still gets together every now and then
