There will be new kids joining the cast for S2 so we just won't see Dustin, Lucas, Mike, Will & Eleven next season. They're most likely classmates from their school but I haven't read up about what roles they will play (I think there's 2 new kids).

Yeah, the monster appeared in the very last ep and he saw it and it looks like it killed him but I don't think it did because we didn't see him get killed.

I still remember most of what happened in the S1 finale which was probably one of my favorite eps of S1. I love that scene of the kids running with the flickering lights and Eleven blowing the brains out of those people hunting her down.
