Thanks for starting. I've only seen the first two episodes. Its a bit odd and slow at times, but there are definitely things I like. I like the mystery aspect of the show of course. I like that it revolves around young kids because I think that's a unique view point... it weirdly kind of reminds me of ET somehow.

Is it supposed to be set in the 70's or 80's?

Not weirdly, all references are on purpose. ET, Goonies (which I love, so it's basically what sold me on the show right from the beginning), Poltergeist, Alien, Predator... there are so many I'm not sure I remember (or know) them all.

And yes, it's set in 80s, they show the date on the first episode, November 83.

I found it more bittersweet than depressing but I can see why you would feel that way. One of the few adaptions from Stephen King that actually was quite decent.

Do we need to use spoilers tags? Since all episodes have been out for 2 weeks now, I don't think they're necessary at this point.

I love what they did with Steve's characters, my friend told me he loved him and up until the last episode I was like HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY LOVE THIS DOUCHE? The scene @ Johnathan's house was great - and pretty hilarious.
