Yeah, I ship MM as well but didn't like that ending for them in S3. It felt rushed for me. Overall S3, for me, just feels disjointed compared to S1/S2. And I think we also knew that was the last season so I remember watching S3 really annoyed at that which affected my watching of the show.

Well in the end they cut the episode order for season 3. So they didn't have a full season. And they cut it late too, so the show had to rush to close up as much as they could before the end in episode 18 or 19. So they couldn't do as much as they wanted. So as soon as they had Liz go through her boarding school revelation and the final test for her and Max, they had to rush to figure out how to end.
Close off Tess and the baby. And to try to figure out Michael and Maria. I think if there had been more time, we might have seen more of a battle over Michael's inheritance of the Seal of Antar when Max died, and Max's reluctance to take it back the responsibility but only did because the seal made Michael crazy. And the of course having to close of the Phillip Evans investigation into his own son. I admit the season has some flaws, but it's much better than Season 2 which had so many little arcs. And of course for Max and Liz fans ended up with so much angst for them, that still had to clear up into Season 3... Season 2 is much more watchable today than it was at the time for me. But still, Season 3 is so much better. I just wished it could have had a full season to say everything it did want to say, and to give a better ending.... But then can't deny we got the opportunity for a happy ending. When it could have been worse, it could have left the couples in angst. They knew this time to craft a ending if it was the ending... __________________

Good point-atleast they did wrap up some things vs just ending like some shows that don't prep end up having to do.

And yet left some threads open in case it did get a miracle third chance. You had the gang on the run, which I am sure we would have seen them focus on if there had more time. And maybe the families back in Roswell having to deal with the mayhem that Graduation brought.
But the show knew that they likely were running out of time, and so they crafted a ending that could serve as a ending and yet things out there to be picked up on... Today, the trend is to leave shows in motion despite their iffy chances of renewal. To try to force the network to renew and not cancel, and it's largely failing a lot these days. You can say Roswell did that in Season 1 and 2 as they left us wanting to know more although "Departure" in Season 2 could have been viewed as a ending in that Max and Liz were in each other's arms. And Michael and Maria were together. But still, they knew to craft a ending and I am happy they at least gave some happiness. Sure they were on the run, but at least they were together. And for me a Max and Liz shipper, well, they had the perfect ending. So I can't complain... __________________

Roswell was why I joined FF 19 years ago. I went running to the spoiled dreamer thread after "End Of The World", so there would be no more shocking surprises.

Me too. I forget exactly how I stumbled on Fanforum. But it was because of Roswell. I lurked for a long time once I discovered the show, and then started posting in Spoiler Thread. I stayed there for the run of the show.
Only later when the DVDs started to come out. And I paid a absorbent price for them because that was the price point back then LOL, that I realized that Roswell had it's own forum and I started to lurk, and eventually started posting. But it was Roswell. And and the Spoiler thread for Roswell was hopping as we were trying to figure out what was going to happen. Sure the show has flaws, but I still love it. Thursday was the 18th anniversary of the end of Roswell, when the series finale aired. Time flies. __________________

I didn't know there was a Roswell thread on the TV board.
Yes, most of the FF posters arrived in throngs to the spoiler board in 2001! Happy 19th anniversary to us. |

And it's board is still going strong... The reboot allowed many to see what was good about the original version. It had it's flaws, but still there is something special about the show. And the cast was very talented.
Yeah, it is hard to believe it's been 18 years since the end of the show. __________________

I am a hardcore Max and Liz fan, but Maria and Michael are definitely my second couple. Once I saw "Independence Day" episode in Season 1, I was hooked on them too but Max and Liz will always be my favorite.
The chemistry between Jason and Shiri and the whole cast made me love the show. __________________
