Roswell is a fantastic show. I am constantly rewatching my DVDs, and doing a rewatch. Did one earlier this year.

Sure it has a flaws. But there is something about the show that draws it too me even fifteen years after the series finale aired.

Max and Liz were my shipper couple. But Michael and Maria was a pretty close second.

I like to think Kyle and Isabel got together on the road... They seemed destined for each other, if the show had continued.

I want to re-watch all 3 seasons too. It's been a while for me.

I'm a huge M/M shipper and I got really upset at how their story came to be, especially in S3. I felt that entire season was written haphazardly cause the writers knew it was the last season.

It's been so long for me too!

The chemistry between all of the couples was so strong! What I loved was aside from Tes, there weren't really triangles. It was a nice change for a teen show.

Shiri and Jason look amazing and definitely haven't aged. That could totally be their baby in that pic if people just saw the picture without knowing who they were.

I'm still disappointed that they didn't follow through on Michael/Isabel. (should have been done as the alien/alien relationship instead of Max/Tess)

I get that most people here liked the other couples, but for me this is what I wanted. Those visions/dreams with them making out and them with a baby.. Damn the show for not exploring them.

I think they wanted to save it. They moved to the UPN for Season 3 after the first on WB, so they wanted to drive something new to grab new viewers but some of their plots alienated true fans of the show and the move to UPN already made it harder to watch given UPN had a smaller viewership.

Like at the beginning of Season 2, they were trying to get new viewers, and then they just gave up and worked on stories that made sense for the group they had. Like Liz realization being saved by Max gave her powers that were actually exhibiting. And whether she can handle the chaos after three seasons of it if she wanted Max in her life. Or should try for the normal life she could have had if she hadn't been shot in Season 1. But she had been changed to much, physically, emotionally and just by growing up from age 15 to 18.

At a certain point they knew they needed a miracle to continue to a Season 4. I believe it around Christmas time that UPN cut the episode order from 22 to 18/19. And then by the time the "Changes" arc was airing with Liz in boarding school, the show was officially cancelled but they were trying to find a miracle and that is why they left some threads one and put the gang on the road instead a complete happy ending...

Oh the show had flaws, no doubt. And Maria and Michael were all over the place in Season 3 but I also spin that LOL as simply growing up. Michael had picked Earth and Maria in "Departure" and now had to face life on Earth. And Maria panicked and had doubts, and it took awhile for her to figure out what she wanted. Especially as they faced graduation from high school. She wasn't in the alien pod squad because of being saved. She could leave anytime. But she loved Michael. It was hard time. And especially as she had dreams, but found she wasn't ready to compromise to gain that life. And so what did they want...

I could have seen Michael and Isabel. But I think they found that too weird to do since basically Isabel and Michael had come to be like siblings since they came out of the pods. It was easier to attempt Max and Tess because Tess was new, and Max was "King" and the leader...

Because the Season 3 episode count was cut. The season could have been stronger but they had to make do with what they had... I loved the season, but I can see why it doesn't have many fans...

I had more issues with Season 2 even though it's more watchable and a thrill to watch all these years later.

I think you are right about the move to UPN affecting the show.

I can't speak for the other ships but yeah, M&M were definitely all over the place in S3. Story-wise, I thought the other angles were good but of course my favorite season will always be S1. Sometimes I wonder what if I re-watch the show now? It's been yeaaaars that I haven't watched any Roswell episodes and I think it would be interesting for me to watch it now that I'm much older compared to before when I watched the show and it was still new.

Maybe, but they certainly didn't have a problem letting them make out on screen. (and I think their 'doubles' were together in that episode..? I can't remember.. would need to rewatch )
So I think it was more them reacting to the audience not wanting them, or being too invested in M/M already.
But I wish they'd done M/I.

It's been years since I watched it too. I'm curious if any of my opinions on the show (SL, ships, etc) would be different now.

I agree so many people were M/M fans that they probably didn't want alienate the fans they had.

Season 3 (with the network change) went on this dark turn that just made the character out of character.

I wish we had at least one season for all of the fallouts in S3 addressed. I felt hollow after watching the series finale. Especially for my OTP, UGH.

Is anyone familiar with this? Whatever happened to the NFLX petition for this project?

Being older does give me a different prospective on the show, and the story lines, and that is why I love to rewatches of the whole show every once awhile. I find new stuff, or come away with a different view. While it was easy come down hard on Max for his actions in Season 2, especially if you were like me a hardcore Max and Liz shipper. Now, I see it as he was a teenager and they make stupid mistakes. And Liz doesn't come that rosey out of it too. Given her actions in "End of the World", and pushing Max away and therefore he had every right do whatever he wanted...

Same with Liz, if she had slept with Kyle for real. Or even Sean Deluca at the end of the season. But she had enough restraint especially after finding out Tess's baby. And therefore she was strong enough to recognize she loved Max, and couldn't go there with Sean.

That was the doubles, the Dupes. Lonnie and Rath in Season 2. The New York pods who were all about following destiny. But Michael and Isabel, they had those dreams in Season 1 "Four Square". But unlike the Dupes. Michael and Isabel treated each other too much like family or siblings to go there...

Although in the darker part of Michael's personality, it could have... As exhibited Michael referencing it to Jesse when he goes off the reservation in Season 3 "Who Died and Made You King", when Max died and Michael was given the seal as second in command. If circumstances were different.

I certainty could have seen it. There was something there in "Four Square". But I loved Michael and Maria, so I am glad they never went there...

In terms of the finale. Given they had a hour to do enough closure if the show didn't continue on, they did a great job. But I would have loved to seen the fallout. How the FBI got out of that mess of targeting four teenage students. And with the parents, and especially once they got Liz's diary.

There was still plenty of drama. So I wished we could have seen more. But given they only had certain amount of time. They did a excellent job...

See this is why I need to re-watch. I feel like I may view it differently now as opposed to before where shipping was a big deal to me.

Some of my fave eps, off the top of my head are "285 South" (mostly for me being a huge M/M fan), "Four Square" and "Cry Your Name" which I specifically remembered because those eps, back then, really stirred some reaction out of me.
