So far I am really loving the reboot.

I always figured Darlene would leave. She always did want to get out. As she said in a early episode this new season. Strike it rich, and lord it over her parents and especially her mother LOL. She always gave me the sense that she wanted to leave, and would try her hardest...

Becky was strange one. We know they had Becky get married early because the actress was going off in real life to university and would therefore have to leave the show or limit her availability. And it made sense to see that yet again Roseanne and Dan strike out in their quest to get further ahead, and this time impact their bright hope for university in finding out Becky didn't have a college fund.

Any other situation, Becky might have taken a year off or gone to work more and tried to earn herself into college the hard way given her marks were always seen to be much better than Darlene's. So back in the 90's, you would think she could have found herself in college. Just not the kind of school she might have dreamt of... If she was able to find the ability to pay for it. But with the actress going off, they had to come with a angsty way to write off Becky for awhile.

It just unfortunate to see how hardtimes Becky fell into and while Darlene seemed to have it all for while at least...

But now is in some hardtimes, and having to take care of her kids and their parents.

I agree Jasper with your assessment of both Darlene and Becky. I would have hoped that they both would be better than we see them at this point, but that's also what makes the show interesting to me, it's relatable in the sense that no matter what you might want or have planned for yourself, it can change at the drop of a hat.

Given that we have found out that Darlene and David have been separated for a long time. So it wasn't like she saw her relationship end, and she moved home. She was able to live in Chicago for awhile there with the kids. But losing her job, and having Roseanne and Dan having their own medical difficulties. It made sense to come home for while...

It's a whole new world. But in some ways it's not. And it's interesting to see how life can suck, when you dreamt didn't pan out.

Darlene ended up with the kids, and Becky is lonely... and may have missed her shot at parenthood. Although I wouldn't put it past the show to have Becky beat the odds, and have a baby.

I love the notion that Becky could beat the odds and have a baby, but it would cost $$ for treatments she would likely need to get pregnant.

I liked the finale, seeing Dan kind of loose it was not surprising, I think its been building.
