They have a few archetypes and tropes for black characters in tv and the movies and this was one of them. They had him being this one-dimensional, smooth player type and it's been done in several movies and tv shows. The worst example I can think of is the movie Thirteen. I mean,it could have been a lot worse, which is why I said slightly. In Thirteen, the characters are like this times 20,only they have them speaking Ebonics the entire time and borrowed elements from Save the Last Dance.
It would have been better and IC for Reggie to do it. Moose would have been unbelievable,as he's really stupid. He's not bright or clever enough to pull that kind of crap off. __________________

Dilton is OOC on the show. He doesn't seem to be the type to carelessly fire a gun like that. Maybe with a teacher around and with permission but not just him & the boy scouts.
Alice is so creepy. I have a feeling Polly is probably a lot like her. They've already established Reggie as a typical jock who is rude & mean on the show, why give it to another character who we just met? I don't get it. Plus I really thought Veronica scored a date with Reggie. That could be canon but alas, why bother with canon if they can just have have another OOC character in the face of Chuck? Archie vs Predator sounds silly but hilarious. When was this issue released? I would love for a Jughead-centric episode. PLEASE. Nope, I still do not like Archie. He's still protecting Grundy unless he really stops it with her, then I'll like him. Disappointed that we're not getting as much Josie & the Pussycats as I had hoped for but maybe in a future ep. __________________

Alice is creepy. Actually, we should look out for the Coopers! When will they show Polly in the show? Im getting really curious.
I have a bad feeling about Ethel. I liked Betty/Jughead and surprisingly, i think Archie is getting a decent storyline and having a personality __________________

Betty and Jughead are love, but poor Ethel. She's been in love with him for years now. Archie versus Predator is an entire series. My brother tried to get it free for me, but I didn't like the idea. Now that I know that Archie Comics have a zombie series,I may give it a chance. __________________

I am all for an OOC Ethel on the show since she was portrayed in a negative light in the comics but I don't want her to be on the bad side. I love Shannon too much. Has it already been established on the show that Ethel is in-love with Jughead?
Where is Mary Andrews? I need a refresher. Have we seen her on the show or is she divorced with Fred? __________________

I don't want her to be bad either and I doubt it'll happen. __________________

I hate Alice too. And I agree that the parents are boring. I do like Luke but not fond of Fred. I like Hermione though.

It does seem they will make Betty mentally ill, but someone on the board made a good point that could be a bit insensitive to mentally ill people who don't have violent spurts like that... Maybe it's something else.. Archie was super blah in the pilot but I think he is getting better. i like when he stands up to his dad or grundy and i LOVE him around jughead. __________________

I do hope they explore more of Jughead & Archie's friendship on the show. Apart from the love triangle, their friendship was a core SL in the comics but I think Archie spends more time with Grundy than with Jughead these past 3 episodes.
There might be something else up with Betty but what she did to Chuck was scary. I think I only like Archie when he's dealing with music and with the Pussycats. I don't like him when he's around Fred either. And while he's back talking to Jughead now, he's still seeing Grundy which he knows is wrong and Jughead is the only person who knows this so it's making me like him less again. __________________

To me Archie is the most boring character on the show. He is pretty but that's it.
Betty and Veronica are my OTP. I hope that the writers rather twist the story like that. Everyone is expecting an Archie/Betty/Veronica love triangle because that's how it has always been. But what about a real, honest same-sex couple that is the focus of the show? Besides the actors portraying Betty and Veronica have much more chemistry than any actor with the guy who plays Archie. |
