| Profit - A name you can't trust - on dvd!!! So, does anyone remember this serie??? I saw this media player about the serie, and the dvd which is being released on Aug. 9th, with ALL of the episodes!: http://www.hyfntrak.com/profit/AFF18754/ Jim Profit was even worse than Hannibal Lecter! I was amazed with all the originality. The bad guy is often a lot more interesting than the good guy. Wasn't America ready for something so good, uncommon and unique ??? Media Player: http://www.hyfntrak.com/profit/AFF18754/ Here are some quotes about the Serie: "The cult hit originally aired on Fox in 1996. The series received glowing reviews from critics, but due to the controversial premise of the show, it was pulled after only three episodes were shown, including the two hour pilot. Now for the first time ever PROFIT The Complete Series will be available, including the final four episodes that were never aired in North America. Profit was raised by an abusive and sadistic father in horrendous conditions. Imprisoned naked in a windowless room, with a cardboard box for a bed, his only connection to the world was TV. After his father's mysterious death, Profit was set free. He manically pursued education and corporate success, working his way up the ladder using any means necessary, including blackmail and murder. He pursued wealth and power with a vengeance, ultimately taking over Gracen and Gracen, the same multi-billion dollar company that produced the cardboard box that his father confined him to. Danger and intrigue eventually unfold, as company executives begin to challenge Profit." "Mustworthiness By the end of the 1996 drama's pilot, Jim Profit (Adrian Pasdar), protagonist/corporate climber/ultrasmooth sociopath, had slept with his stepmom, killed his dad, and retired, naked, to a cardboard box littered with chicken bones. And still Fox canceled it. " Don't forget to check the media player for more info: http://www.hyfntrak.com/profit/AFF18754/ | |||

| This was one of the best shows I ever watched! Too bad it was cancelled after only four episodes. I got it on DVD. I was pretty excited that they included two never aired episodes. This show was so incredibly dark. Profit was just so evil and amoral. He'd do anything to get ahead, and yet, you couldn't help but root for him to suceed in his diabolical schemes. And you also felt a bit sorry for him because of the horrendous abuse he put up with growing up. Being confined to a room with only a cardboard box for a bed and his only contact with the outside world being a TV set. Any kid who was raised by a TV set would be completely screwed up. And it doesn't help that he's a genius(I think he probably was). He so much reminded me of Hannibal Lecter from Silence of the Lambs...except that Profit wasn't a cannibal. Well, at least, not that we know of He was the darkest lead character, human or otherwise to ever grace TV.The scene from this show that has stuck with me the most was when the president of the company gave him and Joanne that lie detector test because he knew one of them was lying. We, the audience, knew Profit was the one lying, but they both passed the test with flying colors. And at the end of the episode, you see Profit take off his shoe and remove a nail from the bottom of his foot. He'd been walking around all day with a nail in his foot so the chemical signals from the pain would screw up the results of the lie detector test. That scene STILL gives me the heebie-jeebies *shivers* What a truly AWESOME show. I was so bummed when it was cancelled. Had this show not been cancelled it would have definitely won Emmy's for Best Drama and Best Actor. The critics loved it, and the fans who actually watched did too. I think if Fox had stuck it out with the show, that ratings would have increased. They stuck with the X-Files after less than stellar ratings the first couple seasons, and it ended up becoming their flagship show. Too bad they couldn't do the same for Profit. It truly shows how memorable Profit was when people STILL talk about it after it being aired for only FOUR episodes. That's truly amazing. And Entertainment Weekly had Profit listed as one of the top ten shows to be cancelled prematurely...I think it had like the number three spot or something. If you go to wikipedia and look up Profit the TV show. The producer tells where the show would have been heading in the second season. He'd planned on having Joanne killed off during the first episode of the second season by some terrorist organization who owed a favor to Profit. Too bad we never got to see it *sigh* __________________ Vote Oasis on the Music Request Thread!! Spike did what Angel never could...he stuck around. | Yeah, so sad it got cancelled. Entertainment Weekly did a top ten list a couple years back where they listed the best shows that were cancelled before their time. Profit was like number three or something. At least, the critics saw what a gem the show was even if FOX couldn't. __________________ Vote Oasis on the Music Request Thread!!
