I was kind of the same way. I ended up getting a Nook tablet. Sometimes I find myself reading ebooks more. But that's mostly bc I have a friend who gives me ebooks. My favorite books I still buy the actual books.

I do love the fact that on the Nook I can highlight and make notes.

I love seeing other people get excited about Outlander. I was kind of thought there wasn't going to be a place on FF for me to enjoy it... or fangirl over it...however you want to look at it.

I was getting a little worried with no thread on this board or campaign thread until last week. I personally was too lazy to make one, plus I have this fear about creating threads and no one posts or interested.

No I totally understand! I tried making a spoiler thread back a few months ago, and maybe two people posted. I was like How is no one around here excited about Outlander? But now I feel so much better!

I'm in love with this series already. The premiere was just perfect. I haven't read the books yet, but I plan to start the first one this week.

I LOVED the first episode. Claire so naughty in the castle

So far it's following the book. I'm glad I finished the first book before the show started.

Don't forget tonight, August 9th is the official premiere (US). Tonight's actual, viewing number is what determines ratings. So even if you've watched it once (*cough* or more), it's tonight's audience numbers that count!

Enjoy the Highlands.

I'd watch if I could.

It doesn't air in Canada for another 3 weeks.

It makes the inner conflict within Claire more believable and THAT much more powerful.

I also think it enhances the Jamie/Claire story better in the long run.

I just finished watching it. I liked that they developed Frank/Claire to illustrate the conflict. I haven't read the books were Frank/Claire the same way in the books?

No.

Same as the novel, they are on the trip to Scotland, but Frank and Claire weren't given any depth in the novel just mentions of him as Claire narrates her experiences. The series did a better job showing that there is a love between them, a bit strained, but Frank does love her and she him.

By showing a love for Frank makes her desperation to return to her timeline more believable. She's willing to take risks and schemes to find a way back to 1945 because we believe she indeed has something worthwhile to return to. Someone worthy. It makes Claire's struggles and conflicts that much more realistic and emotional.

For Claire having someone who truly loves her and she knows it, sets a high standard level f expectation. She would never accept anyone who treated her any less.

So by Ron Moore taking the time to expand and develop the Claire/Frank marriage. It makes the eventual Jamie/Claire story - epic! It has to be because Claire wouldn't settle for anything less.

Ok thanks. I hope Starz will keep having free episodes online cause I don't have that channel. My favorite scene is when she's trying to get the bullet out and asking for stuff and no one knowing what they are until she says alcohol lol
