So it's sort of relatable and real in a sense then?

Random but does anyone know what sport Connell was playing in the first ep? It's obviously not soccer and I know it's not rugby.

I was reading a review of the show this week, there was a point that got my attention. So other than relatable and real, the show airs at the time of confinement and virus madness. It really brings us back to what "normal life" was. We get to reminisce school romance, rites, college life. These things are all shaken at the moment.

Ahhh that's Gaelic football. It's a great sport. The Irish loves Gaelic games: Gaelic football and hurling. It's a very fast paced sport. I got the chance to see both sport in action when I was living in Ireland. In both Gaelic football and hurling, you score points by putting the ball in the net (3 points) or through the posts above the net (1 point).

its a sport which is not really soccer, nor is it really rugby

its similar to that game they play in southern australia called australian rules football, where you use your hands and you pass the ball in a funny manner. theres no offsides (ie a line of scrimmage), and you can tackle people (like pinning them down like a security guard) with your hands

i knew an american friend of mine who tried to watch the australian version of the game and she left after a quarter of it

Aw, sounds like this show isn't loved on FF, but I adore it!

Connell & Marianne are their own worst enemies and communicate horribly in most instances, but if you can get past that, and remember how young they are, I think the show is so beautiful. It's well done and well acted. I'm reading the book now. I've watched the series three times lol.

wow watched 3 times already?! i'll rewatch it someday but not yet. my to-watch list is a bit long.

i think it really represent how relationships are. what's amazing is they are still in each other's lives all these years through their ups and downs.

Thanks for the info.

I haven't really had the time to watch much of anything lately so I'm only on episode 4 but I'm digging it.

Keep watching it's good.

As for the comic relief episodes, they were just a few minutes but cute.

I mean you can actually watch them, no spoilers with the show itself at all. Only a few minutes each.

Andrew Scott was brilliant. He reprised his priest role on Fleabag (which I didn't watch). There's a longer version of it where they sing at the end, i didn't see anyone uploading it yet.

And there's "Normal Older People" with Mariane and Connell 40 years from now.
