New Shows: 2005-2006 season!

During my constant vigil to find out if Arrested Development (which is a hell funny show that more people should watch BTW! ) is being renewed for a 3rd season, I just came across this article which runs through a whole bunch of shows from several networks that are either renewed, cancelled or new shows that'll be premiering.

Of course, none of it is "official" until the networks make their presentations this week, but I hope no one minds me posting it anyway. I figured a thread like this might be good so everyone can see what shows are coming back and which aren't and all that jazz.

From The Futon Critic....

NBC, ABC, FOX and the WB Set Initial 2005-06 Season Orders
By The Futon Critic Staff

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- NBC, ABC, FOX and the WB have leaked their initial 2005-06 season orders as well as nearly all their renewals and cancellations of existing series.

The news comes with barely 12 hours until NBC presents its fall 2005 schedule to the advertising community, a presentation which for all intents and purposes remains a complete mystery. Nearly a half-dozen variations on NBC's schedule have floated around this weekend with everything from "The West Wing" moving to Sundays to "Joey" moving to Tuesdays. Nevertheless with executives and producers heading to New York City over the weekend, the series that did and didn't make the cut have become pretty clear.

Among the surprise renewals - FOX's "The Bernie Mac Show," ABC's "Jake in Progress" and "Less Than Perfect" - three shows widely considered longshots to return. Conversely, ABC has pulled the plug on "My Wife and Kids" and "Eight Simple Rules," two series thought to have brighter prospects than "Jake" and "Perfect."

Phee.

Looks like you can rest easy. Arrested Development has been renewed.

I'm Sorry for the Jack and Bobby fans, and I'm surprised by Trial by Jury's cancellation.

I'm also surprised that WB is keeping both Smallville and Charmed. Both seem past their prime.

Yeah, there have been several sources saying that AD has been renewed. It's still not officially official until FOX says it's official on Thursday (at which point I'll be breathing a huge sigh of relief and officially celebrating), but all signs are pointing to yes, so I'm a happy duckie right now.

Oh, me too.

American Dreams.

And, I loved Jack and Bobby, but after seeing the season finale, it looked more than obvious that the show wasn't coming back.

We have a thread for cancelled shows this season here. A thread for renewed shows here. Please feel free to re-post this information there as well.

As for the 2005-06 season's new shows. I don't think we have a thread for those yet. So I'm going to change the title and make this the central point for all new show information.

I have so hoped that The WB would give "Halley's Comet" a chance.
However, of all these new things, nothing sounds terribly interesting to me... "E-Ring" maybe if it isn't terribly written... isn't Sarah Clarke going to be in it?

I'd checked back a couple pages to see if there were any threads like this already. Guess I didn't check back far enough, d'oh.

You may as well edit the "(oh my)" but out of the thread title, too. It was only there as "canellations, renewals and debuts (oh my!)" as a play on the old "lions, tigers and bears (oh my!)", so it doesn't make much sense on its own.

As for the new shows, I'm glad "Head Cases" got the go ahead, because I had an unnatural obsession with Chris O'Donnell back in my highschool days, so it'll be good to see some more of him. Too bad we probably won't get the show here (Australia) for at least a year if we ever get it at all. Methinks I'll be doing some downloading if I ever wanna see it.

We have a lot of pages so don't worry about it.

I just liked the oh my. A sense of doom and appeal. But I'll remove it for you.

So, I'm sure some of you read the show descriptions at futoncritic etc. What do you think you're going to watch?

Personally I'm a bit at loss... nothing sounds too interesting, in my opinion. I guess I'm going to give "Kitchen Confidential" (FOX) and "Close to Home" (CBS) a try.

The shows that I'm interested in for the Fall are:

Kitchen Confidential (Fox) - about the restaurant business.
Prison Break (Fox) - A man gets into prison to break out his brother who he believes is innocent.
Bones (Fox) - A woman solves mysteries by looking at bones.
Supernatural (WB) - Two brothers travel across the country solving supernatural mysteries.
Fathom (NBS) - A new species is discovered in the oceans.
Threshold (CBS) - The Navy discovers an alien craft and a team is assembled to explore it.

I will probably check out:

Everybody Hates Chris (UPN comedy based on Chris Rock's life, narrated by Chris Rock.)
How I Met Your Mother (CBS flashback comedy with Alyson Hanigan & Neil Patrick Harris.)
Bones (Fox drama about a forensic anthropologist with David Boreanaz)
Supernatural (WB, about two brothers battling supernatural forces on the road.)
Invasion (ABC, aliens invade a FL town.)
The Night Stalker (ABC, remake of the 70's cult series.)
Threshold (CBS, more aliens invade, this one has Brent Spiner)
Fathom (NBC, more aliens invade, this one has Lake Bell.)

The only show I'm particularly interested in is Kitchen Confidential. And that's just because Nicholas Brendon (BtVS) and John Francis Daley (Freaks and Geeks) are in it.
