Life UneXpected #2: “We’re crazy. We’re unconventional. We are often inappropriate. But no matter what, we’re your family.’‘

Quote:
After spending all of her 15 years bouncing from one foster family to another in Portland, Oregon, Lux (Britt Robertson, "Swingtown") has decided it's time to take control of her life and become an emancipated minor. Her journey through the legal maze leads Lux to her biological father, 30-something Nate "Baze" Bazile (Kristoffer Polaha, "Mad Men"), who owns a bar, lives like an aging frat-boy with two slacker roommates, and is astonished to learn that he has a teenage daughter. Lux is equally astonished when Baze reveals that her mother is Cate Cassidy (Shiri Appleby, "E.R."), a star on the local "Morning Madness" radio show, along with her on-air partner and real-life boyfriend, Ryan Thomas (Kerr Smith, "Eli Stone"). Lux has been listening to Cate's voice on the radio as long as she can remember, so she feels an instant connection with the mom she's never met. Baze takes Lux to meet Cate, who is shocked and saddened to learn that Lux has grown up in foster care, but thrilled to finally meet her beautiful daughter. When a judge decides that Lux isn't ready for emancipation and unexpectedly grants temporary joint custody to Baze and Cate, they agree to try to get past the awkwardness and make a belated attempt to give Lux the family she deserves. LIFE UNEXPECTED is produced by Mojo Films in association with CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros. Television with executive producers Liz Tigelaar ("Brothers and Sisters," "What About Brian") and Gary Fleder ("October Road"). Gary Fleder directed the pilot.

I just found this thread; watched the whole show last year from Netflix.
It was good to see Shiri as Cate.
I think I will watch it again this summer.

Do you think the last scene with the graduation, meant that Lux
was the Valedictorian? She had gold cords on her gown.
If she was, she made great strides since she started school there, and
needed extra help & tutoring.

I recently rewatched too, it was so cute. So bummed it was canceled before we got to see cate and baze truly together but they really ruined things in season 2 in that regard.

I found it unrealistic she did so well in school. Thats a reach

It would have been good to see a next season:
Lux behaving better; Cate & Baze happy together.

I actually liked the Eric character. He was a good friend for Lux, though he
should have waited a few years before dating her.

I shipped lux and eric too. Normally I dont really like teachers and students but in this case, they met before he knew how old she was, and he tried really hard to stay away from her. He should have kept with it but he did struggle with it for the whole time and they also didnt sleep together. Cant say the same for other pairings on shows. (cough ezria cough)

Thanks for posting that & letting us know!

That will be interesting. I watched "The Nanny" virtual read of the pilot, and that was good. Too bad they won't have "Eric" there.

Remember the "Virtual Pilot Read" will be on tonight. I'm
sure it can be watched on YouTube anytime this week.
You can still watch "The Nanny Pilot Read".
