WELCOME TO THE FIRST https://goo.gl/images/xXRK0y APPRECIATION THREAD  Legion, based on the Marvel Comics by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz, is the story of David Haller (Dan Stevens), a troubled young man who may be more than human. Starr*ngDiagnosed as schizophrenic as a child, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. Now in his early 30s and institutionalized once again, David loses himself in the rhythm of the structured regimen of life in the hospital: breakfast, lunch, dinner, therapy, medications, sleep. David spends the rest of his time in companionable silence alongside his chatterbox friend Lenny (Aubrey Plaza), a fellow patient whose life-long drug and alcohol addiction has done nothing to quell her boundless optimism that her luck is about to change. The pleasant numbness of David's routine is completely upended with the arrival of a beautiful and troubled new patient named Syd (Rachel Keller).  stlavin95 - would you like to discuss further what were your favorite moments?  I really enjoyed that episode. It reeks of Noah Hawley and as someone who watches Fargo, the music & cinematography is on-point. I loved that we were as confused as David was but the last few minutes of the ep basically (sort of) explained everything. I'm not sure yet what Jean Smart's character is but I'm guessing she'll be the "Professor X" of this show. Stand outs in this episode for me were Dan Stevens & Aubrey Plaza, OMG I love Lenny. I think she'll be around as David's imaginary friend, fits well with David's persona of being crazy and yet he's not because he's a mutant. I can't wait for episode 2!  Btw, the other 2 mutants (Kerry & Ptonomy) who David thought was kidnapping him, I knew they were mutants because they look different (for example, Kerry had mismatched pants). That was brilliant.  __________________

I loved the sequence in the pool since I thought cinematography in that sequence was amazing. I also loved the flashbacks and the final few minutes since it pretty much explained everything for me and I also loved the acting from everyone in this episode, but especially Dan Stevens and Aubrey Plaza.

I hope we get more backstory on David's past. Plus the reason why that 'government agency' got a hold of him. Also, I need to know who Jean Smart is playing. Her character name is Melanie Bird but there's nothing on her in the Marvel X-Men universe which makes me think she has a bigger arc on the show.
