Journeyman #1

A few days ago, I knew nothing about this show really, I think this is one of the new fall shows that has less buzz than some of the others...but then I randomly found the pilot....and I was blown away by it. It has so much potential and I'm really hoping NBC gives it a fair chance.

OFFICIAL DESCRIPTION:
Quote:
(from NBC's press release) From Emmy Award-winning writer-producer Kevin Falls ("The West Wing") and Emmy Award-winning director-producer Alex Graves ("The West Wing"), "Journeyman" is a romantic mystery-drama about Dan Vasser (Kevin McKidd, "Rome"), a San Francisco newspaper reporter and family man who inexplicably begins to travel through time and change people's lives. Along the way, he also must deal with the difficulties and strife at work and home brought on by his sudden disappearances. However, his freewheeling travels through the decades reunite him with his long-lost fiance Livia (Moon Bloodgood, "Day Break") -- which complicates his present-day life with wife Katie (Gretchen Egolf, "Martial Law") and their son. Reed Diamond ("Homicide: Life on the Street") and Charles Henry Wyson ("The Curious Case of Benjamin Button") also star. "Journeyman" is a production of 20th Century Fox Television. Falls is executive producer and writer; Graves is executive producer and director of the pilot.

Thanks for getting the thread started. I've been seeing a few nice promos for it.

Amazon has the pilot up for free (and legal ) if anyone is interested.

I watched it today Shauna and I really enjoyed it. From the previews I didn't think it was very original so I wasn't sure about it. But, I must say I greatly enjoyed it.

Yeah, I also heard that Blockbuster has the pilot as well.

And welcome Mel! And I know..I briefly heard about it.....thought it sounded like it could have potential.....but the concept sounded so overdone, so I just wasn't sure at all and kinda forgot about it. But then I found the pilot the other day and I was just so pleasantly surprised by it.

Anyway, I'm hoping more people will catch on. It's definitely under the radar, with so many other new shows getting the buzz this fall season.

Oh...I'm making a fan list, so if anyone wants to be added, let me know.

Mel, You've been added. And I completely agree with your thoughts. I just have to say that the very last scene.... was my favorite part of the episode!

Susan, welcome to the thread! I added you.

And according to Matt Roush, he dosen't think Journeyman has much of a chance. :/

Quote:
Question: I was just reading the Fall Preview issue and I don't remember ever being this excited over so many new shows. Pushing Daisies, Chuck, Bionic Woman and Journeyman all look great. But if most of these new "genre" shows catch on, how many can survive? I worry that with so many to choose from, some great shows will suffer and maybe some old favorites will suffer and end up being canceled because the networks have little patience and people can only watch and DVR so many shows. They gave Ugly Betty and Friday Night Lights time last year and thankfully listened to the critics; let's hope they give these a little time also if necessary. It helps that critics like you and newshounds like Ausiello love many of them. And it's great that NBC paired Heroes with Chuck and Journeyman. This likely will become my new "must-see TV" night; I just hope they do as planned and draw on each other and the new shows stay around.— Karen

Matt Roush: You've posed this season's multimillion-dollar question. Last year at this time, we were fretting over the glut of serialized thrillers, and rightfully so. This season we're going to learn just how many high-concept heroes the weekly schedule can withstand. I can't imagine they're all going to succeed equally, and it's a fact that not all genre shows are created equally (Repeat after me: A show isn't necessarily good just because it's in your favorite genre). I imagine a few will be disappointments and fast fades — my bet is on Journeyman, unless it gets a better grip quickly on its time-traveling and emotional logic. But you never, ever really know. Although I will say that NBC's all-hero Monday strategy is a good one, and I hope it pays off, especially for Chuck, although in that early hour, ABC's Dancing with the Stars is going to be fierce competition.
Well, he did say that you never really know what's going to be a hit or last, but he seemed very negative about the show's ability to succeed. Anyway, I think/hope it can make it..granted that's if NBC is willing to give the show a fair chance. I know I saw some great potential in the pilot..and I think it can only get better from there!

I haven't seen it yet, but just watching the preview, I think it looks great.

My Comcast on demand has it for free, if that helps anyone else out.

I just watched the pilot on my cables On Demand. I really liked it. I was rather confused at the beginning, but I thought towards the end it pulled itself together and the transitions between his time traveling became more clear...so it was easier to get...at least for me. I hope that this show is given a chance...and I hope it takes off.
