To some extent, the subjects of things like this will always complain (Selena's family, The Royal family on The Crown, etc). If they ask permission, they'd say no. But tbh, this brings in some press/media coverage to the stars which is a good thing considering both Pam & Tommy are not so popular these days so any publicity (be it bad) is good for them, imo.

It's really up to people's interpretations. The show can spin it in some way but stick to what you believe. For me both Pam & Tommy were problematic and they may show us the human side of them for TV purposes, but it's the show's job to make it all work that they still remain true to what really happened back then.
