I'm not completely familiar with the story so someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think the horror is used as an allegory for racism? So I would hope it's more than blood and gore and jump scares just for the sake of it.

It originally aired on Oprah's network and is written by the guy who wrote Moonlight. I took this from google:
Quote:
Set in South Florida, this lyrical coming-of-age story centers on a teenage prodigy named David who lives in the projects but attends a magnet school for academically gifted youngsters. David, played by newcomer Akili McDowell, straddles two different worlds, navigating between the streets that raised him and the school that offers him a way out of poverty.
Seems pretty heavy so I'm wondering if I should check it out.

Thanks for the all the news btw!

^ Thanks! If it's not horror in that sense, like how I sometimes refer to The Handmaid's Tale as the only "horror" show I watch, then I'll check it out.

Oh I thought you read the book. I know Lovecraft's own personal novels have monsters but wasn't sure if this specific book did. Google tells me we see one in one of the trailers? I can't remember that but apparently this it:

I'm okay with monsters. I just don't want horror type movies like Conjuring or Annabelle.

Wow. I don't mind those. Slasher films I'm not much a fan of. "The Prodigy" I thought was OK, which deals with a supernatural force.
