As if it wasn't enough obvious, this article says that it's a continuation so no original characters nor the same but played by other actors.

Of course they contacted them, though. I think that if they offer them enough money they could make an appearance in a couple of scenes. I can see more people like Blake, Leighton and Chace doing it, rather than Penn (who wasn't very nice in talking about the show when it ended, was he?), Ed or even Taylor. No idea about Jessica.

By the way Nate should be NYC Mayor even - was he just a candidate, in the last episode? Or elected already? I don't remember lmao

I KNOW I'll watch this, even though I really disliked the way it ended or the way the things went after season 3 till the end.
He has actually been much nicer about it, but he us busy with You. Also ed said he couldn’t see himself returning. Only person n I can see actually popping up willingly is BlAke.

I see. I don't really follow him, so I just remember statements here and there. Being busy, well if he really wants it, he can surely make room for it. Personally I hope not, because I never liked Dan, but it's just me since he was GG in the original (sorry I can't lmao), it would have sense for him to appear. Ed I think said in an interview a few years ago that he wasn't interested in playing Chuck again, he had done it for six years, giving him all he could and he wanted to do other stuff.

Yeah, Blake would do it, but also Leighton, why not? HBO would surely pay them very well and after all it's always a matter of money (of course they wouldn't put it that way publicly, it sounds better to talk about the memories and all that jazz).

Dan and Serena were my favs. I feel a bit st ease knowing Schwartz is still involved. But, I really am not here for a rehashing if a decade old fan war.

Me neither, it was exausting back then. My fav was Serena, but this will be a complete new cast, so I hope it won't happen the same as ten years ago, even though we should be too old for that anyway, now

Wondering if they will end up writing new characters with only different names, but basically the same as the old ones. I hope not.

Hopefully not that would be lame and pointless. I am literally just here for the pretty when it comes to shows now. DNC for the drama. No matter what happens the people who don’t like your ship will still hate. I just hope the storytelling is higher quality.

Same. If there's a thing GG taught me, is to just enjoy what I like and avoid drama aspecially when it's about shipping.

I'm kinda worried about the storytelling, coming from the same people who wrote the original series. But there will be different material to work on, new characters, more money to do stuff, longer episodes...we'll see. It's just ten episodes, anyway (for now).

The thing about hbo is that episodes are shorter. Who knows, they may **** it epically once again. I think may get more pushback for focusing on rich kids in this current political climate.

Shorter, really? I thought they were longer, being a cable.

Yes, they could do that I hope they won't do that, GG has never been about politics and no one will watch it for it. In the article I linked, it's written that:

Per the streaming service, the next-gen show “will address just how much social media — and the landscape of New York itself — has changed in the intervening years.”. And Safran appearently "wanted to subvert the original paradigm.".

It's true that we are all GG now, with all the social media stuff happening. The original had just a blog and text messages!

I loved how things used to spread by texts in GG

I just meant that it may not catch on as easily because viewers have less tolerance for the shenanigans of a bunch of rich shire kids. I hope they have more diverse casting this time.

The text stuff was ridic since Twitter was a thing in s3.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Dorotaaaaaaa (and Zuz)

I adored her so much and I MISS HER SO MUCH!!!!

I also miss things spreading in text, it was fun Well they already used social media in Mexican version of GG. Blasts were on twitter So I wonder what interesting thought they have for the reboot

Here's a trailer, with a very catchy title

Thanks for the link dear airali_glo!

"...The door is open for the original stars, which included leading ladies Blake Lively and Leighton Meester, to make an appearance. “We’ve reached out to all of them to let them know it was happening, and we would love for them to be involved if they want to be involved,” Schwartz said. “But [we] certainly didn’t want to make it contingent upon their [participation]. They played those characters for six years, and if they felt like they were good with that, we wanted to respect that. But obviously, it would be great to see them again.”
Probably they didn't get a "yes" from anyone... Actually as I recall the only person who was always and "for real" willing to return to GG was, Kelly Chace has a new show coming on Amazon, he also says he is open to a revival but not like he wanted it so much I guess it always felt like figurative speech . Ed talked a bit softer in the recent fan events he's attended too but he didn't suggest he would return, his show will have a 3rd season I am guessing, just had 2nd Leighton's show will have a second season as well as Penn's Blake is pregnant with the third

Quote:
“We felt like a version that was just our cast grown up — regardless of what the challenges would be of assembling those actors again — it didn’t really feel like a group of adults who were being controlled by Gossip Girl would make a lot of sense,” Schwartz continued.
You felt wrong ^^

My babyyyyyyy He will show his dark side now This is before the reboot news so I wonder when or if they reached out to him too.
