Who are your favorites in s1?

I remember really liking Jenny in s1. And Blair, a lot.

i didnt like jenny in season 1 either, during my first watch. i didnt dislike her, she was just sort of there for me. but i started to love her in season 2 and the NJ thing made me love jenny.

i loved all the characters in season 1 though, they were all so great.

I also loved most of the characters in season 1! Exceptions being Vanessa and Jenny - my sympathy grew towards Jenny when she conceded defeat though, thought that took guts!


Blair was my ultimate favourite, she was just outrageously awesome on another level!! She made me laugh nearly every episode, her bitchyness was the BEST, but her caring side shown through the BS friendship was what made me love her the most :love:. Episode 16 showed it best - I loved how she went so dramatically from ruthless queen B on her throne in one scene to being SO supportive and there for Serena in the next, I find it the most compelling part of her character. Also loved Serena too, and the DS relationship was just adorable!!

I'm on season 2. I love Dan so much. He is so caring about Blair and says to her make sure Chuck stops playing games. I love him. Go Dan. Even though I do love CB the first two seasons, I like DB more. :love: Yes he is doing it for Serena and I love that. I also really love Serena first and foremost. She has always been so caring and supportive as others. :love: I also love NJ. ugh they needed more of chance.

I agree (just wish he didn't ruin it later in the episode due to useless Vanessa lol) in the sense that I enjoyed the DB dynamic when they made reluctant efforts to be civil due to serenas persistence haha, and did enjoy the scene of Blair telling him about the nape of her neck being chucks kryptonite LOL and his response :lol: that episode made me love Serena Even more though, I agree she is just so sweet and loving :love: I love when dan said she could be bffs with Blair and love someone like him, gah that was just so perf :love: and CB in season 2 are on another level of amazing

I was not a fan of Vanessa at all. Like the actress, but not the character. :nono:

i agree, jessica is lovely but vanessa fell flat. i didnt like her in the books either though. i prefer show vanessa to book vanessa actually.

For me, this is how I felt about the characters:

Chuck - LOVED him in season 1. Liked him in seasons 2 and 3 but then he started to go downhill for me in season 4 and I could really stand him in 5 or 6.

Dan - LOVED LOVED LOVED in season 1, he was my BB. Still loved him til the end but he obviously was written into a hole in the finale season and they made him come off so jerky, I think to sell the dumb GG thing but ugh, I hated how he was written there.

Blair - Adored in season 1. Then she lost a bit of spark for me as the show went on but I still liked her til the end. Didnt agree with her choices in season 6 obviously but I always like her.

Serena - Honestly was just mostly indifferent to her in season 1 and 2, HATED her in season 3. She was so annoying. Started liking her again in season 4 and was fine with her in 5/6 but she wast always just sort of boring to me.

Jenny - Liked in season 1 but she was just kinda there as a character. LOVED her in season 2 despite them writing her as a brat. Season 3 they DESTROYED her character but I still loved her because i am biased AF. lol. Season 4 i just loved the little bits of her that we saw.

Vanessa - didnt like initially, starting warming up to her a tiny bit in season 3, then they ruined her again.

Nate - liked. From the beginning until the bitter end he remained the same useless, boring, but hot character LOL.

TBH they sort of ruined all their characters.

Yeah Vanessa came in totally wrong from from the start as she was put in between dan and Serena. And then she kept getting in the way of fan favourite characters and couples which was never going to bode well for her.

For me it was the last straw when she tried to blackmail Blair into doing some dirty work for her, for literally no reason at all, and then had the nerve to complain to dan the next episode when Blair out manoeuvred and humiliated her!! Which was always going to happen, hence why she's queen in the first place :rolleyes: She played the victim and made it sound as if Blair and chuck just decided to screw her over on a whim, and even though it gave us the GOLD 'that little troll Vanessa' Blair line, it still pissed me off so much. I couldn't stand when her and dan got judgemental without merit because it made them hypocrites, but at least dan had some positive qualities as well lol. Vanessa just came across as jealous and petty

Serena- I loved her from the pilot. I Liked her flaws and all. I always found fandom only liked her when it came to hating on others.

Blair- I liked her s1 but I just couldn't with her pettiness. She thought she was better than everybody else when she was the most judgy of all. She was just triggering for me cause she was a glorified version of every school bully.

Dan- I loved him from start to finish. He was my problematic fav. Unapologetically harsh and judgemental even of himself. I have yet to see a character who embraced self love the way he did and gave 0 ****s about it. It might make him hard to love but the only time I disliked him was when he became a self-loathing shell of himself in s5. Hard to love but love him I did.

Chuck- was horrible but atleast he grew up. That's all I can say without starting something.

Vanessa- ugh. So much wasted potential

Jenny- can you say interesting. I had trouble rooting for her but by late s2 I was all for little j coming out on top.

Nate- I hated the spineless dufus for over a year but he won me over slowly and became one of my favs.

Bart: glad he died twice

That's what rubbed me the wrong way about her, coming in between Dan and Serena. :nod:

I wanted her to diaf the minute she showed up but DS are my bbs so I was clearly biased.

Yeah me too!! It just pissed me off how familiar she was, coming through the fire escape and assuming Serena was a bitchy air headed trust fund baby with no real personality, and not that she was a great person who dan had real feelings for. SO judgemental and unfair, argh haha still feel the anger when I watch those episodes now :lol: the season 2 Blair/Chuck debacle was also the lowest point for her imo lol

:lmao: definitely not biased I hated her on sight she's just exactly the kind of tv character I cannot stand!! And I find that no matter who people ship, not liking her is (usually) the one thing people can agree on lol

I liked rufus and lily enough in season 1, and then rufus just went downhill more and more each season until rock bottom in season 6. Lily I liked on and off, off usually due to how she was treating Serena. And it was complicated as I loved her relationship with Chuck.. but I didn't like how that warmth and unconditional love she seemed to Grow and show towards him (as lovely as it was) wasn't there in the same way for Serena (and Eric). And there was the awful absence in their child/ preteens that had an such an underrated effect on them, which never got addressed to the level I wanted
