Oh don't even get me started on that. Gilmore girls only got one Emmy in seven years, and it was for makeup? Seriously?

I'm glad Katherine Heigl got snubbed. She offended the Grey's cast last year, plus I feel Sandra and Chandra are doing fabulous jobs. I'm also glad Tracy Morgan got a nom With SNL, I feel like "I'm on a Boat" was much better than "Motherlover," but that's just me. Everything else is pretty repetitive.

As a die hard Buffy fan myself I learned never to expect a sci-fi show to ever get nominations.
Yeah, Buffy was my very first fandom and is still my first love, so I know all about disappointments. If SMG couldn't get nominated then no one on the CW should ever dream of a nod EVER.

Well at least they won it, so the show has a 100% win record at the Emmys...

Did the Desperate ladies get anything this year?

Oh, me too! First fandom, first love. If Buffy and Everwood (which wasn't sci-fi so it had a sporting chance I suppose) and Lauren Graham and GG were snubbed then the CW can kiss any hopes for future noms goodbye

But besides that, maybe I'm being too much of an optimist here but honestly, I don't think the noms are that repetitive in actuality. Sure, most of the shows aren't new and are in their forth or fifth season or so - but the amount of first time noms is really a lot! Just look at this:

Ok, so it wasn't as many as I thought, but there are still a lot of cool new people and shows in there I think. Plus a lot of the repeats are deserving in my opinion.

ETA: Is it too early to start talking who will/should win? Or should we still gripe or celebrate the nominations?

Even though there's some others that I like, I really just care about Breaking Bad, Bryan Cranston, and mostly, Aaron Paul, hopefully winning their Emmys. Seriously, though, if Aaron Paul doesn't win, there's NO justice! He was beyond phenomenal this season!

I love how nothing but great things have been said about him all season. He really is amazing...and then some! I know he was on that show too. Not sure if he still is. I don't watch that.

Yay for the Emmy nominations! Congrats to all shows that were nominated, especially to the ones that are getting first-time nominations. ~AIR~, in your earlier post where you bolded the people and shows that are first-time nominees, that actually seems like quite a lot. Sure, there were some categories where only 1 out of 6 was a first-time nom, but most of the categories had at least 2 or 3 first-time noms, and Outstanding Comedy Series has 4 out of 7 first-time noms. Those seem like pretty good numbers to me, and it's great to see new (in the sense that they haven't been nominated before) shows get some recognition.

Sadly, I really don't watch enough TV to be able to compare performances and say who I think will or should win. Honestly, I'm a 30 Rock fan, so if I said who I wanted to win, it would probably end up being a straight 30 Rock-ticket. It's going to be really interesting to see who does win, though. Most of these categories look like they're going to be very competitive, so I'm looking forward to seeing who actually wins on September 20th.

I'm really pulling for Jim Parsons and Neil Patrick Harris to win. Both brilliant in their roles. Also, I'm rooting for surprise nominee, Simon Baker for The Mentalist. He's SO good.

I think most of the overhaul in first time noms did come in the comedy categories. And the Best Comedy Series category is just stunning that 4 out of the 7 are first timers! I think that's really really cool. And I also think it's a fantastic line-up!

Also total ditto on Jim Parsons and Neil Patrick Harris!

Do you guys think the Academy is finally "getting it" (all the first time comedy nominees and Simon Baker's surprise nod) or do snubs like Battlestar Galactica and Friday Night Lights just reinforce the fact that they still have a long way to go?
