Yeah I thought a shortened season would be good as well. We'd get an epic ep every week. But it really hurt the SL, imo. Some of the teleporting was questionable. We got used to 6 years of 10 eps and the pace of the show worked for us. I was even okay with the early eps of S7 and usually just brushed them off but it became painfully obvious by the last few eps that the shortened season didn't make me enjoy S7 so much.

I hope that S8 isn't as affected by the shorter episode length as season 7 is.

Sadly S8 is even shorter, only 6 eps. And it's taking longer to film too so another 2 years to wait cause last I checked, the last season is still slated to premiere 2019 even though the cast is already shooting now.

Why is it slated for 2019? Will it be longer episodes than season 7?

Only 6 eps for S8 although I read that the ep length may be longer so around 50-60 minutes, I think. Here's an article about the delay of the last season: Game of Thrones Season 8 Filming Delay Explained | Time

Hopefully the episodes are closing to 60 minutes than 50. That wouldn't surprise me since I don't think a lot of their other shows are profiting anywhere near what Game of Thrones is.

Exactly. HBO knows that this show is one of their biggest right now. The fact that we get new episodes the same time as U.S. over here in Asia is quite surprising too. We didn't get new episodes right away back in S1. So imagine all the people all over the world watching a new ep every Sunday night. That's big for HBO.

Here in Brazil is the same... we didn't get them the same time back in the first season, but since it was so successful now HBO airs at the same time here too

^ I watch it live so Monday morning for us on this side of the world.
Si, I can't even remember when we got the eps the same time as U.S. Not sure if it started in S5 or S6. But back in S1 we'll be delayed a week until the new ep and by then I'd be spoiled already. Luckily back then the spoilers for this show aren't as bad as it is now. __________________
