The Fosters/Good Trouble #4: "DNA doesn't make a family, love does."
#04  The Fosters is a compelling, one-hour drama about a multi-ethnic family mix of foster and biological kids being raised by two moms. Stef Foster (Teri Polo), a dedicated police officer, and her partner Lena Adams (Sherri Saum), a school Vice Principal, have built a close, loving family with Stef's biological son from a previous marriage, Brandon (David Lambert), and their adopted twins, Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) and Jesus (Noah Centineo). Their lives are disrupted in unexpected ways when Lena meets Callie (Maia Mitchell), a hardened teen with an abusive past who has spent her life in and out of foster homes. Lena and Stef welcome Callie into their home thinking it's just for a few weeks, until a more permanent placement can be found. Has anyone seen the new Jesus in anything before this? I felt like his introduction was awkward, but that may only be because they had to force it in. __________________

ugh i had a long post typed out, of course ff ate it. SIGH.
i felt bad for brallie in the episode. they were super cute but of course callie getting adopted would stall them longer. i am so glad she got adopted though and that they didnt drag it out. lena/stef are so confusing, are they breaking up or not? the stuff with nate felt kinda rushed. like, lena sure forgave him quick for all the ruckus he caused before, and him apologizing felt weird because the last time he didnt seem apologetic at all? jonnor were cute but sad. i get why connor wants to leave but i do think his dad is trying. and of course conner will be back. too bad we didnt actually get to see the kiss but the "i love you"s were great. jesus was def. weird. like, obviously its a different person and when lena was like "you got so tall!" i had to laugh. i feel like this new jesus has decent chemistry with people but his acting could be improved. but i will give it a chance. i think because he was new it was awkward and it would have been that way with anyone new coming in. __________________

The writers of this show seem to oversimplify difficult situations and confuse simple situations. :/ That fact gives me comfort for when I look at the Lena/Stef, Nate/Lena, Liam situations. The writers just bombed those. And then Callie's adoption had so many simple outs and instead they just kept stringing it along.
As for the new Jesus...I think it would have been better if they hadn't reintroduced him like that. Just do what soap operas do and pretend that nothing has changed. They wouldn't have had that false scene if it was the old Jesus. It would have just been like "Hey Bubba, glad you're back" and everyone would have moved on. I really have no confidence in the writers anymore. :/ And FF just ate my new signature that I made...ugh well I wasn't that happy with it so I guess this will let me redo it later. __________________

im not sure how they could have done it better because i think sending jesus away before bringing on a replacement was a good idea. i think thats better than just randomly having a new guy in there.
but i think they could have waited a little longer to bring him back? like even more episodes. jesus really wasnt gone THAT long. and i just hope that he doesnt get a lot of focus. i think they need to integrate him SLOWLY into the show instead of giving him main storylines right away. the audience needs dot get used to him. is it weird though that i hope emma/jesus have a sotryline again? even if its a different actor i still think they could be cute. __________________

I agree with integrating him slowly. Maybe we'll just have to get used to him. At this point, though, I just don't know. We'll have to wait and see.
