I know no spoilers whatsoever are allowed on the television show boards. But, I know on some of the actors boards, there are spoiler threads.

You're right, but the question becomes what exactly qualifies as a "spoiler"? Some people have different interpretations and I really think we need to clarify it as much as possible.

Here's the official FF rule.

Information is considered to be a spoiler if it details something that has not yet been broadcast anywhere in the world. Promos that have already aired on TV are not considered to be spoilers. Clips (little episode snippets, usually up to one minute), hosted on the TV Channel Website- are not considered to be spoilers. Episode Stills are released by the channel and not considered to be spoilers. Episode descriptions Small snippets/blurbs from TV guide/entertainment weekly etc. are fine. Longer episode descriptions (like for example the ones FOX provides), even though they technically aren’t spoilers, should just be discussed on the episode discussion thread until the episode airs or they should be posted with spoiler tags in various threads on the board. Basically, everything mentioned above can be openly discussed on the television boards here, except for the longer episode descriptions. Please use spoiler tags if you want to discuss those outside the episode discussion thread.

I think the biggest thing I notice on different boards is that even though some of the things listed above aren't considered spoilers, some boards ask those things to be in spoiler tags as a courtesy even though they don't technically have to be.

That's interesting about episode stills. I wonder how far in advance they're considered to be a spoiler...because a big problem I've noticed is that people will make avatars that feature pictures from two or three episodes in the future.

To me avatars with pics from future episodes is definitely considered spoilery. Often times they give away crucial things. And most shows release episode stills pretty far in the future. I know The Office has had stills released for 5 or 6 eps ahead.

I think the general accepted rule is that a week in advance is THE EARLIEST ... often I'd say don't use or share the icons until the episode appreciation thread is started, etc.

I'd say no spoiler pics until the show has air. Sometimes the picture reveal more than the episode description would say in the appeciate thread

I think the only thing that could be okay is spoiler pictures that don't give anything away. Like if it's just a posed picture or someone just standing there...but any major action should be held off until the episode has aired.

Maybe explaining ratings - I know a lot of people are confused by them and this could be a good place to explain how they work and the difference between rating and share, etc.

I thought there was a thread on this board that talked about ratings what new and returning shows are in danger of being cancelled. Can anyone help me find it. I'm curious to see how the new shows are fairing.

I think I know what you're talking about, but I'm pretty sure it hasn't been updated.

ETA: Okay, I couldn't find any thread that specifically talked about what you wanted. The closest we have is the General News Thread. If you wanted to start a thread about Ratings (which we were planning on anyway) or about the fate of the new fall shows, go right ahead!
