FAQ BRAINSTORMING THREAD: POST YOUR MOST BURNING QUESTIONS!

The moderators of the Television board here at Fanforum would like your input. We are in the process of assembling an FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) thread and we want to know what are the most common questions that need to be addressed on this particular board.

Please post any questions you have. No question will be dismissed as stupid or unanswerable.

We will take every consideration when assembling this FAQ. We want this to be an important thread resource for regular posters and lurkers alike!

Why can't I find a thread for <insert show title here> ?

- check our TV Board thread guide here, all threads are listed in alphabetical order

- 80s Board for threads on popular 1980s shows.
- Cartoons Board for any animated show threads.
- Disney Board for disney based shows.
- Reality TV Board for all your reality shows.
- Soap Opera Board for threads on your favorite soaps.
- Sci Fi / Fantasy Board for threads related to shows in the science fiction and fantasy genres.

- TV Shows: New category to find boards for the newest fall line-up of television shows.

When does <insert show title here> air?
- Couchville - you'll need to put in basic information such as your zip code, whether you use cable, satellite, etc and you'll be given a great grid guide on what's on all channels for the next few weeks.
- The Futon Critic series guide - click on the show you're looking for, and find out when this show airs

Where can I find more info on <insert show title here> ?
- The Futon Critic series guide - click on your show, and read general information about the series, when it airs, episode information, cast details, and much much more.
- TV dot com - search for your favorite shows, and get episode information, photos, air dates, news, etc.

What is the spoiler policy here?

Spoiler Rules - Information is considered to be a spoiler if it details something that has not yet been broadcast anywhere in the world.
-Promos that have already aired on TV are not considered to be spoilers.
- Clips (little episode snippets, usually up to one minute), hosted on the TV Channel Website- are not considered to be spoilers.
- Episode Stills are released by the channel and not considered to be spoilers.
- Episode descriptions: Small snippets/blurbs from TV guide/entertainment weekly etc. are fine.
Longer episode descriptions (like for example the ones FOX provides), even though they technically aren’t spoilers, should just be discussed on the episode discussion thread until the episode airs or they should be posted with spoiler tags in various threads on the board.
Basically, everything mentioned above can be openly discussed on the television boards here, except for the longer episode descriptions. Please use spoiler tags if you want to discuss those outside the episode discussion thread.
For the courtesy of fellow posters, on this board, we ask that you PLEASE do NOT post episode stills (links are fine) until the episode has aired.

I'd think, off the top of my head, FAQ might include ....

* why can't I find a thread for so and so ... maybe include a direct link to our thread guide, give directions on how to find the other boards on fan forum, the reality board, etc ...

* maybe when does so and so show air? Find a reliable link to a site that keeps up with shows??

* maybe a list of TV links to places on the web for TV show info ...

. What exactly is the spoiler rule here? Can we discuss upcoming episodes in the threads if we do it with spoiler tags or should we leave all spoiler discussion to the Spoiler board? Does that apply when the show is on hiatus and there's nothing else to discuss other than spoilers?

I'd say we post a reminder that we do have to follow the overall spoiler rules. Yes. And remind folks what those are - that anything that has aired on TV (promos etc) are no longer spoilers. Typically general episode descriptions (a few days before the episode airs, arguably up to a week ahead of time) is no longer a spoiler, etc.

Yeah, I've seen different boards with different rules, that's why it can get a bit confusing

We have a Fan Forum wide spoiler rule, I'll dig it back up. But OCCASSIONALLY we permit a bit more strict rules on certain boards.

That's very interesting. I'm curious to see what the actual FF spoiler policy is.
