Art by Zenkindoflove DEXTER is based on the compelling novel "Darkly Dreaming Dexter" by Jeff Lindsay, a South Florida native. Orphaned at the age of four and harboring a traumatic secret, Dexter is adopted by a police officer who recognizes Dexter's homicidal tendencies and guides his son to channel his gruesome passion for human vivisection in a constructive way - by killing those heinous perpetrators that are above the law or who have slipped through the cracks of justice. A respected member of the police force, a perfect gentleman and a man with a soft spot for children, it's hard not to like Dexter. Although his drive to kill is unflinching, he struggles to emulate normal emotions he doesn't feel, and to keep up his appearance as a caring, socially responsible human being. Important Info:

|  Thanks for the new thread, Astra!  And thanks for putting the Dexter/Rita thread in the front post.  More people need to know about that thread.To continue from the last thread... Shrink Wrap is an amazing episode. It really showed us deep down Dexter's insecurities with people in general, how he doesn't get close to them because they'll see the monster inside. It's of my opinion that Dexter focuses too much on this monster or dark passenger and doesn't really see the human that is inside of him as well. I think that's what's so special about Rita for him. Dexter let's her get close but she sees only the good man. That seems to be both Rita's strength and weakness. She focuses on the good in people. I think it makes a good balance for Dexter as a mate. I also love Seeing Red.  Dexter unraveling his past with the Ice Truck Killer's help was so gripping! Everything about the end of Season 1 was stellar. I can't wait for Season 2 to come out on DVD! I already rewatched the episodes by downloading them but it'll be much easier to expose the show to my friends with the DVDs. | |||
