It's definitely different.... I went back and rewatched them unedited to see what I missed in the CBS version... It's not bad, just 'different' for certain

I haven't caught the CBS version really, but really it shouldn't be bad. It's still Dexter. Even watered down Dexter should be great television!

I saw all the original episodes on Showtime and have been watching the CBS version this time around. All the basic premises and nuances of the original are in the network show but without some of the language and nudity. In last night's episode 'Shrink Wrap' there was alot of nudity in the original but they did a good job of not showing much in the cbs slot but you still very much knew what was going on. I also noticed they have taken out a few minor scenes (that had neither graphic language or nudity) but it must have been for time reasons. The opening title sequence is also shorter. They don't show Dexter walking out of his apartment and smiling.

I hope we get a Dexter board of our own.

I agree.. I figure they have to edit a bit out for time, but I also agree that I think CBS has done a good job as far as the editing goes...

Granted, I can't at Doakes' & Deb's cursing etc, but will my son is around I'd rather not have a lot of the foul language going, but otherwise it's freakin' hiliarous!

I hope we get a board too! We're holding our own in the voting, but definitely need some more voters to help us out!

I agree! I think the narration/voice overs is one of the things that make Dexter extra special!

Im going nuts waiting for Season 3 to start! What a great show! I wont watch the episodes the network is running right now cause of all the editing. You guys should buy the dvds and watch them the way they were intended on being watched. Oh well I guess its good that the show is getting a wider audience now.
Has anyone read any of the books.

I'll probably buy S1 this summer, so

And I haven't read the books. Don't really have a desire to do so. I've heard mixed things, and I'm so attached to the show, that I just don't know if it'd mix well.

I understand that.... I might like to read them whenever the show is finished, but I don't really want to mix up the show and the books right now...

I have read the first and the second one. And while they are pretty interesting and entertaining reads, they differ from the show a lot. Well, the first book is still quite similar to the beginning of the series but somewhere in the middle the differences become very noticeable.

Ahhhh... okie... I heard the first books did deal w/ the Ice Truck Killer story arc though...

I'll probably read 'em after the show is over... (which will hopefully be YEARS away)!
