I totally agree, this is a way to get Dexter out to the masses and the more viewers the better so that dexter can get the recognition it deserves. i mean its a crime how many people i know that have never seen the show..

Another little news bit i found, according to the president of showtime, they only had to shave off 6 minutes to fit it in the CBS time slot and most of it was just curse words. take a look:

Very true! Whenever I say I'm watching Dexter, people think I'm watching Dexter's Laboratory.

I don't even know how I heard of Dexter. I just finished watching seasons 1 and 2, but I first heard of it a long time ago... maybe even before it was on Showtime. And I don't even have Showtime.

We're only at the start of S2, this is one of those shows I wish I'd gotten earlier *cough* but I'm glade to be watching and recording it now with my DVD recorder and making my own divx files!

BTW - the S1 DVD was recently released here but It doesn't look like it have any extras, is that the same in the US?

Haha- Dexter's Laboratory!

I've seen the DVD, but I didn't actually look at it because I didn't want to tempt myself quite yet!

S1 DVD here is only $36 Au which is not much more than the new release price for most movies. I'm thinking of buying it but I recorded to whole season and don't know if it's worth it without an extras, none were listed on the DVD and I can't find much info online about it.

oh, well if you have them all recorded, then don't buy the dvd. if there was anything good, i would have watched it or remembered it.

I looked online and the extras are:

two case commentary tracks
2 bonus episodes of showtime's 'brotherhood'
featurette: "the academy of blood: a killer course"

that's all i read, so i reccommend you just not buy the dvd.

When I saw S1 in stores it was only 30-something, and that is really good for an hour-long! I'll probably buy it, but I can wait awhile longer.

And Dexter is obviously a favourite of mine too!

When Dexter first began airing on Showtime, I didn't subscribe to that channel, so made a mental note to make sure and catch it sometime... Thanks to CBS airing episodes, I got that chance, and was so right... This show is right up my alley!

So though I probably won't be here much til I can catch up and finish season 2 (in the process of that now), but I look forward to talking about the show with you And now that I have Showtime, I'm all set!

I'm glad CBS showed Dexter, it allowed Showtime Dexter to get more fans, but oh my god, it was so bad! It's not the same hearing Doakes say "Freak" instead of "****". I was watching it one night with my mom, she doesn't like hearing me say **** or hearing it on tv and movies, so she was happy that she could watch the edited version, but anyway, I was watching with her and I had to leave the room. I just couldn't watch it edited.
