I too was sad that Doakes is gone now.
And while I am not the biggest fan of Rita and Dexter (don't mind them being together though) I'm quite happy that Lila is gone. Thinking back, I did not find her that bad in the beginning. She was one of the few people who seemed to realize that there was more to Dexter than just the nice front he put on. I just found her a bit annoying, too forced in her "I'm so different and edgy" way of behaving. But when she started to show her over-jealousness and overall craziness, I just disliked her.

Yay, a nomination! Though I doubt that Michael C. Hall will win.
Dexter is such a great show and deserves so much recognition but it's highly unlikely that it'll ever win an award IMO.

I think it will at some point. Maybe not the show, but Michael.

I sure hope so because Michael is an awesome actor and definitely deserves an Emmy or something alike.

Hey guys.

I just caught up on the finale of this season, and that was so crazy! Like a lot of you, I'm sad to see Doakes go too. He was probably one of the funniest characters on the show and the bonding that he and Dexter shared while he was locked up became so intriguing after a while. Of course it had to be crazy bitch Lila to be the one that killed him.

I really can't wait to see how Dexter changes now that he doesn't feel so tied down the Harry's code, and I'm also wondering what new things will be uncovered about Dexter's past. His transformation over the past two seasons has just been so hectic and emotional, and Dexter is really becoming one of my favorite characters ever on TV. Every time he opens up a little more or accepts that he really does have feelings, my love for him grows! Dexter was always cool and interesting to me, but his complexities are really drawing me in for good.

Anyways, since there isn't a Dexter board currently, I'm probably going to be starting a Dexter/Rita thread of at the Couples board. If any of you Dexter and Rita fans have arts, videos, or ideas to put on the front post, just PM me. It'll most likely be up within a few weeks. I'm hopefully getting S1 for Christmas and I'll be making screencaps and arts so that the front post will look pretty before it goes up.

The ratings are in Dexter scores huge record ratings for the season finale

'Dexter' Finale Breaks More Records
Season two ender broke records also held by 'Dexter'
December 20, 2007

Quote:
The second season finale of Showtime's "Dexter" smashed records for the premium cable network.

Sunday (Dec. 16) night's "Dexter" drew 1.4 million total viewers in its first 9 p.m. airing, making it the most-watched single airing audience ever for a Showtime series.

The previous record was held by the Nov. 18 episode of "Dexter," which drew 1.23 million, a small boost from the 1.21 million who watched a 2004 telecast of "Soul Food."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show's 10 p.m. encore drew an addition 382,000 viewers.

Last December's season one "Dexter" finale attracted 1.2 million, with 148,000 tuning in for the same-night encore.

"Dexter" hasn't been officially renewed for a third season, though it's darned near impossible to imagine Showtime not picking up its highest rated show, which just earned a Golden Globe nomination for leading man Michael C. Hall.

In addition, CBS revealed earlier this month that recycled (and heavily edited) episodes of "Dexter" will probably be a strike-time strategy on the network, though no timetable has been set for that already controversial move.

the finale was great for whatever reason I wanted Dokes to be alive, somehow end up in haiti or wherever he went to get his information heal up and by next season make a return.

The demise of lila was almost a given ,but the big surprise was Dexter showing up in Paris to find her and kill her. who knows maybe Lundy helped Dexter via Debra to dig up that she was in Paris.

By judging how he killed Lilah, Dexter is changing his killing and disposal methods after his close-call in getting caught. Good idea Dex!

I hope that we will hear an official confirmation for season 3 some time soon.

Im glad that he got nominated, but the show should have gotten a nomination as well. It's a show that is like nothing that has ever been on tv before. It scores huge ratings, and yet it's not nominated. It just is not getting the awards it deserves

Dexter is brilliant. Why hasn't it got it's own board. It's a brilliant show. I've only seen 3 episodes into the second season, but it's just gripping television.

For anyone who is interested, I started the thread over at Couples...

Dexter/Rita (Dexter) #1: Because They Both Have the Same Dream: A Normal Life

I just recently got my dad into the show. He bought me S1 for Christmas and I made him sit down and watch the first few episodes with me. Needless to say, it didn't take much forcing to get him to watch the rest. We finished up the next 8 episodes in one night! It's really great to see new fans get into Dexter I think.

I love Dexter! I still have a couple of S2 episodes that I need to watch, but I caught the finale. I know where you guys are coming from in regard to Doakes, but I'll choose Dexter any day!

We'll need a fan list if we want a Dexter campaign. Oh, I guess I should have started with "I think we should start a real campaign"...
