Makes no sense at all. Not at all surprised that the response from fans was overwhelmingly negative.

I didn't like it either, it's like 14 years and now you're just going to put them together when she has two kids with her hubby?

I don't think they actually will, tbh. It was just throwing a vocal minority a bone. Backfired on them (as catering to a vocal minority usually does) because it makes literally zero sense at all.

None at all, they're like siblings after this long.

Yep. At the beginning of the season JJ was literally laughing about that time they went to a game and Reid thought it was a date. You can tell it wasn't planned at all.

^^ Yeah it was too abrupt, if there had been a build up maybe I'd get it more, but it's been too long to just stick it in our faces at this point.

There was literally no build up at all, they went from the idea being hilarious to her to pretending it was actually a thing, it makes no sense.

I think that's what it was. They were trying to be controversial in an attempt to ger viewers back. The way it has been so negatively received probably wasn't what they expected.

Well if viewers thought they would get a JJ/Reid ending which some have shipped since season 1, more might tune in to see.

They won't, the "ship" was never that popular, and whatever boost it may have given them would likely just have reduced the standard loss they get every season, it wouldn't have stopped them having less viewers. Plus, introducing random relationship drama would likely lose them viewers anyway, it always does, especially on shows like Criminal Minds where most of the audience aren't fandom types. They'd be more likely to lose than gain if they actually went there.
