I've started to watch this show and I'm down to the last 3 episodes now.
I really enjoyed Madeline on the show, she's a riot. Jane is okay but the character is a bit dull to me. Celeste is also a character I like but I pity because of her abusive relationship with her husband. I also like Renata, she has this side of her that reminds me of the typical 'soccer mom' type. Perry gives me the creeps. The kids though are all A+. Love them especially Ziggy & Chloe. I'll need to watch the rest of the eps to decide if I want another season of this show but (so far), I'm fine with it being a one-off. __________________

Glad you're enjoying it, Lindsay. Madeline is definitely the bubbliest personality and a firecracker too.
I think Jane is a little boring because she is an outsider and reserved and insecure because of what has happened to her. __________________

I agree with most of your thoughts on the characters. Madeline is by far my favorite, shes absolutely hilarious.
Part of why I dont love Janine is SW, not gonna lie.. But I definitely want a season 2. I want more Madeline and Celeste! |

I'm finally done. OMG, I had my mouth open at that very last episode. I had no idea it was going to be Perry. Holy .
At this point, I'm okay with this show being a one-off. As much as I want to see more of the characters (and damn, I loved Madeline and Ed more and more each ep), I loved that ending we got. __________________

I agree with Alexa, for me I knew it was Perry from the beginning...ok I have to admit, I did read the original novel before I watched the series version so I knew much of the whole story from the start, does that count as cheating? but a friend of mine who has not read the novel yet also figured out it was Perry quite early in the series, and I did not tell her anything.
As for who my favourite characters are, that would be Madeline and Celeste definitely, for me they are the 2 most interesting characters, I also gradually started to like Bonnie more towards the end. Jane is quite a boring character I never really cared much for her so it wouldn't bother me if she doesn't return for the potential second season, I think Jane is probably my least fav main female character in the series, I didn't really like her much in the novel either. |

in the books it made sense she killed perry as she had a similar abusive background but in the show they dropped the ball on that which annoyed me because it would have pulled it together better imo

Nicole's portrayal was wonderful. She portrayed the role an abused woman behind closed doors so powerfully.

I also agree with you guys about Bonnie, I was disappointed when her background wasn't properly revealed in the series version, it would've explained why Bonnie was the one who killed Perry. It was explained in the novel, but not everyone has read the book so for those people who haven't read the novel yet would not have understood why Bonnie was the one who killed him. |

I dont think there was motivation there necessarily. But she had a background with an abusive father I think, so it was more just symbolic that she be the one to pull the trigger. Sort of like she was finally getting the power back from that situation even though she had nothing to do with the Perry situation.

like Alexa said, Bonnie had an abusive father and she was quite traumatised by that...so when she witnessed Perry being physically abusive towards Celeste, it brought back a lot of bad memories for Bonnie about her abusive father, she wanted to help Celeste and so she killed Perry.
