I see this thread hasn't been visited in a long time! Unfortunately, I only just got around to watching the show, and now there is no one around to talk about it!
I was pretty disappointed with season 3. It just felt like a different show to me and not as cohesive as the previous 2 seasons. I thought the episode "A Blade of Grass" was *awesome* and exceptional, though. I loved Vanessa's/John Clare's relationship so much. I thought Frankenstein's role in the third season and his lack of connectedness to everyone else was kind of odd. In the first 2 seasons he seemed like pretty good friends with everyone, but then suddenly he is never mentioned? Vanessa never checked on him, and he never checked on Vanessa? Huh? Wasn't Malcolm kind of close to him? And then suddenly he is all about only Ethan? I also have a hard time believing that Malcolm could hear that Vanessa was having a hard time (she alluded to it in a letter) and not immediately go to her...he just carries on to America? Anyway, back to Frankenstein..I thought his role felt shoehorned in at the end when he went to help with Dracula. I was sad that John Clare was missing for a fair bit of the season, and that Vanessa was kind of absent the last 2 episodes too. It just felt weird. A lot of storylines felt incomplete and like they were left dangling. Dracula didn't seem sinister enough to me, except maybe in "A Blade of Grass". I had a hard time believing Ethan's flip-flopping in regards to "I want to be good" "I don't want to be good anymore". It felt a bit like filler and so did Hecate's role. I really grew to hate Dorian and his pointless storylines. He just bored me and seemed inconsistent sometimes. I did find the final scene where he says "I'll be here" both chilling and sad, though. They had quite a confused view of Christianity... (Vanessa being a "Christian" but also dabbling in the dark arts? Er....?) Overall I enjoyed the show...it was so different than other things on the air. I enjoyed the creatures, the classic names and characters, the music, and particularly the amount of poetry showcased. Quite unique. __________________

Yeah, it ended too soon. I don't buy that they planned to end it after 3 seasons. There are too many stories left hanging...I think they intended to do more, and maybe if they would have had more time, season 3 wouldn't have felt so rushed and disjointed.

Certainly would've liked Jekyll and Catriona to have been more fleshed out, and Lyle leaving for Egypt felt like it was setting up the Mummy as a future villain.

Really disappointed the Jekyll/Frankenstein bromance won't get explored more.
Such a cool idea and so well done. I was looking forward to some Hyde/Frankenstein scenes, and seeing Victor trying to save Henry. __________________

Hopefully they plan this one out better so it doesn't have to end up the same way.
