Tropes are things that fandom refers back to in fanfiction, characteristics that aren't really there but are used anyways because everyone uses them.
F.e. in the Teen Wolf fandom they represent one of the werewolves as very sweet and innocent and because people keep reading those sorts of fanfiction, they use it in theirs too while in reality the person is very sarcastic and uncaring. __________________
