Welcome to the 8th
Jackson Whittemore | Colton Haynes
Appreciation Thread!

BIOGRAPHY
Colton Lee Haynes was born on July 13, 1988, in Wichita, Kansas. He grew up on a farm in Andale, Kansas, but has also lived in Arkansas, New Mexico, Texas, and Florida. He is of half Cherokee (registered) and half European descent.[1] He attended Navarre High School (Florida), Andale High School (Kansas) and graduated from Samuel Clemens High School in Schertz, TX. He has an older brother and two older sisters. His brother, Clinton, is also an actor. At the age of fifteen, Haynes began modeling for Abercrombie & Fitch while living in New York City, New York. After moving to Los Angeles, California, he began acting in television series such as CSI: Miami and Pushing Daisies.

With his natural acting ability and striking good looks, Colton Haynes is on his way to becoming one of Hollywood’s leading young stars. No stranger to the world of television werewolves, Colton starred as Brett Crezski, the town’s football star and - resident werewolf - on ABC’s 2010 series “The Gates.” In his young acting career, Haynes has been able to garner several notable television roles. He recently appeared as one of the stars of Showtime’s controversial miniseries “Look” in addition to guest starring roles on “Privileged,” “Pushing Daisies” and “Melrose Place.”

CHARACTER BIOGRAPHY
Jackson Whittemore, portrayed by Colton Haynes, is the former captain, now co-captain, of the Beacon Hills lacrosse team. Like Lydia, he is a popular student. Jackson has a competitive and aggressive nature, which shows through hostility towards people who best him. The show implies that his drive comes from being adopted, and that he wants to make others proud of him. Despite his abrasive personality, Jackson is shown to care about his friends and dislikes hurting them. Jackson is also shown to be insecure about his adoption and the fact that he does not know his real parents, leading him to be unable to see his adopted parents as his true mom and dad. His birth mother had died on June 14 while pregnant, meaning Jackson had been pulled out of his dead mother's womb.

At the end of season one, Jackson demands the bite from Derek. In season 2, his body rejects the bite and Jackson instead becomes the Kanima, a murderous shapeshifting creature with a paralyzing agent that it uses to kill its prey. The Kanima seeks a master to control it, revealing that as the Kanima, Jackson's every move is controlled by someone else. Unlike werewolves, who retain their memories despite transformations, Jackson does not know that he is the Kanima, nor does the Kanima side of him know that it is Jackson. It is implied that Jackson becoming the Kanima may have something to do with his real parents and his past. In the episode "Battlefield" it is revealed by Peter Hale that he might be able to be saved from the curse.

"Teen Wolf: The Hunt", a Teen Wolf inspired social network game, states that Jackson was born on June 15. He likes Porsche, Golden State Warriors, USC Trojans, and the San Jose Sharks, and is a fan of Wiz Khalifa, Nicki Minaj, Drake, and Gym Class Heroes.

yep... hoping there are more interviews and things out there he does for the show between now and then... don't like long withdrawals.... :(

couple tidbits I found.

1. Roy’s headed for the dark side of justice.

“Season 2 for Roy’s character is almost like Roy’s island,” Colton Haynes said. “He goes through so much — he lost so many people in his family. But now he’s getting into a lot of trouble, and people from his past are starting to resurface, it might be drawing him to go down the dark side.”

It should also be noted that Haynes maniacally cocked his eyebrow after that last sentence. (!!!)

and from comiccon... not a ton of info but what I found video wise.

Don't really like the idea of Roy going dark/evil. Maybe it will be better than it sounds.

Not sure... going to wait and see. I don't think it will stick, regardless. I imagine at some point even if he does go darker ( which would be somewhat fitting given part of the comic character's story)

eventually he'll become better, IMO. Just looking forward to the journey

I know nothing about the character's comic book story other than he's suppose to be Arrow's sidekick eventually.

ah... well there are different make ups of Roy.

He was addicted to heroin and I believe in some eventually lost an arm....

he also goes dark and has a daughter that eventually in the comics dies and has a falling out with the Green Arrow...

Also was Arsenal, Red Arrow, etc....

there are a lot of twists and turns they could do with the character

Interesting

yep... IMO it was kind of a shout out to the heroin aspect of Roy's comic character when in the doctor's office he showed that he had a bit of a problem with needles.

There are many ways to go with him and it does make him a bit of a interesting character. The mother of the child in the comics was Cheshire (normally considered a villain)

In one instance he even came back as a clone of himself though I'm not quite as sure where that one came from

Looking forward to seeing what they do with him.
