now to me, that really looks like they’re surrounded by water (and jeff already said that water is a big theme in this series)
they don’t do anything at all except sit there, and in each of their individual sections they’re all moving. but here, jackson and lydia are just sitting still but they wouldn’t have included it unless it was important to the show.
lydia is holding onto jackson, she’s got a pretty tight grip on him, and he’s not looking at her but she’s looking at him, almost concerned.

so basically, they are surrounded by water and lydia is holding onto jackson. so what i’m getting from that is that lydia is literally keeping him afloat, she is anchoring him in the surrounding water
