I understand Rachel's reaction. Charlie did everything wrong (including letting the Patriot alone to commit suicide ).
When she entered the room and said she brought Bass because he can help, it looks like she's protecting Bass the same way Miles was doing it. It looked like she was standing up to Bass and that's an insult to Rachel. From both Miles and Charlie. But of course, with Charlie is much more painful because she is her daughter and she lost Danny (and Ben) too, so she shouldn't be defending/trusting Bass. Just like it was an insult to Charlie when Rachel decided to ignore her daughter and let Nora to die. In Charlie's mind, Rachel was choosing to fight for Danny (and the power) instead of Charlie. And now in Rachel's mind, Charlie was choosing to side with Bass (and Miles) instead of Rachel. Rachel doesn't know Bass saved Charlie's life. Because no one told her about it. That's what Charlie should have said if she wanted her mother to not be so mad at her. Because we know Rachel let Bass go when he saved Charlie's life in the Tower. So she could do the same thing again and she would understand Charlie. And then she hugs Aaron and didn't hug Rachel. I think Rachel didn't want to be so rude at her. It shows in her face. Rachel wants to connect with Charlie, but she can't, probably because they're almost like strangers. She's been away from Charlie for a long time. That's probably one of the worst things ever to a parent. To not be able to connect with your daughter/son. But then we have Charlie, who came back because of her mother and is only accepting Bass' help because of her mother and she wants to explain and Rachel doesn't let her. That scene in the roof with Bass is very cool because we can see how terrified she is with the idea of the Patriots doing something against her mother. And that's the reason she listens to Bass and is accepting his help. They need to have a proper talk because they barely know each other. And it would be good to have an episode full of Rachel and Charlie together. __________________

I understand both reasons why Rachel and Charlie are the way they are towards one another, but it's so terrible as well. and I just know their relationship is one of the parts that's going to wreck me this season.

What is heartbreaking is that Charlie smiled and asked if she was okay. And Rachel replies the way she did and creates this wall between them. Then Rachel regrets all of it.
That's her "I shouldn't have done it, I'm a terrible mother" face. X __________________

It was a moment that just brought back how her father explained her. Just jumps in without thinking things through. And like Bass said, Charlie is just like her. no wonder there's a wall.

From Elizabeth's interview with TV Line (the interview has some spoilers):

Thanks for the interview. It really is sad that they couldn't even hug . But I have to say that this scene made me laugh :

What Charlie said to Rachel!!!
It was the truth. I think Rachel needed to hear it from Charlie. But at the same time, Charlie should know why Rachel doesn't want to help Bass. Charlie also experienced some of the bad things that Bass did. I'm still waiting for the day Charlie will know all the bad things that Bass AND Miles did against Rachel. And also why Rachel did all the things she did (blackout and abandoning her family). Otherwise, she will never completely understand her mother. I think Charlie is just accepting Bass because he can he helpful and without him they have no chance of beating the Patriots, so her mother would be in danger. (At least before she sees Miles so sad because of Bass' death) She wants Bass alive because of Rachel (she should have told this to Rachel) and Rachel listens to Charlie and saves Bass because of Charlie. I like that. Very much. You know, Bass being a way for Rachel to make amends with Charlie. Bass, of all the people. This episode was awesome! __________________
