Oh yeah I rememeber the video message, but was he really talking both himself not being on the island? That message had nothing to do with Oliver's location at any time. I think he was talking about Robert not himself. Robert left that message before the Gambit trip or whatever so he wasn't on the island not Oliver.

No, Oliver wasn't on the island when he found the message which means at some point in those 5 years, he left the island. And they gave us that piece of info in S1. So Oliver leaving the island at the end of S2 shouldn't have been shocking.

That line didn't really make much sense in season 1 though. We were missing all the context of it so no wonder I didn't remember it. It didn't make sense yet and this wasn't really important yet. Also I was already blocking out most of season 1 because gross, lol. One throwaway (at the time) line in season 1 doesn't mean him being taken to HK in season 2 wasn't surprising. It wasn't like some OMG shock, but it was somewhat surprising. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who didn't remember that one random line from season 1 at the end of season 2.

You remember random stuff nobody else does though, lol. And I actually am someone who usually remembers things nobody else does so that is saying something. But yeah the way he got off was the most surprising part. I think I really wasn't expecting that aspect of it at all.
