I am not a comic book reader. Never have been so I can't relate to these fans. I look at it the same way I look at books that are adapted into movies. I love lots of movies that have been adapted from books but I never read the books. So I don't get angry when they change things. I feel like sometimes being ignorant is a good thing. At the same time I feel like even If I had read the comics I would still be susceptible to change. Just because I know television. I have watched so many shows. I read chemistry between actors. It's something I've picked up on just from being such a fan of television and film for so many years of my life. So when I see two actors not meshing well onscreen I can't warm up to them together. No amount of comic books with a certain canon can change that.
